Slow Cooker Applesauce

Our apple trees have exploded with apples this year. One way I use them up is to make Slow Cooker Applesauce. All I do is put everything in the slow cooker and forget it, it makes itself.

I made this batch with cinnamon, cloves and allspice for a nice fall flavor and dark color (the longer you leave it in the slow cooker the darker the color will get). The flavor was fabulous and the smell in the house was amazing! You can add whatever spices you want or none at all.

Applesauce can be canned, frozen or put in the refrigerator to eat. You can cook the apples down completely as I did, or cook it for a shorter time leaving pieces of apple intact. I sometimes use my immersion hand-held blender to make it smooth. This can be done in a regular blender too.
