Ingredients
Fresh Green Beans
Directions
Wash and drain your fresh Green Beans.
Lay them out and cut the end off.
Cut the other end off.
Cut them into pieces.
Boil a large pot of water. Blanch the Green Beans by dumping them into the boiling water for 3 minutes.
Remove and immediately dump them into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
The ice will probably melt each time you do this so add more when it melts.
Put Green Beans in a colander to drain.
Place blanched Green Beans into serving size freezer bags and freeze. That’s all there is to it!

a woman after my own heart. I use this method too.
Love green beans!
Wow, that really is easier than I thought. Does it also prevent the beans from becoming mushy when you thaw them?
They claim blanching helps preserve the color and the nutrition value of the green bean. I don’t feel they are mushy but then again, I cook my green beans until they are soft.
Thanks a lot. I’ll do this instead my usual thing next time. Lets hope it helps 🙂
I hope it works for you!
So do I 😉 Thanks 😀
Great idea. I have lots of beans, and always ended up given them away. Now I know what to do. Thanks Diane!
You’re welcome! They don’t take up a lot of room in the freezer either.
Brilliant!
I love beans and its a very healthy recipe 🙂
I love beans and its a very healthy recipe for me 🙂

How do green (and yellow) beans go from flowers to overflowing so fast? Will try this probably today! Thanks for making it look easy.

Good to know, mahalo!
You’re welcome!

Thank you jyo! Can’t bring up your site????
Is it…donno y…many are complaining this issue…may be…if u follow me, u can view my site…not forcing u…lol😁
I’m glad you showed this, Diane.
My question is, have you ever blanched zucchini, either whole or halved, to use later for boats, to spiralize, etc? I’ve shredded for breads, coined to fry, chopped for salads but I want to leave whole if possible, this year.
I know zucchini freezes well blanched in pieces but I have never tried it whole. I’m thinking halved might work OK but not so sure about whole. Blanching slows the enzymes which can cause a loss of flavor, color and texture. If the water can’t get to the inside to blanch I would think the enzymes would not be slowed making your zucchini not so good. This is only my opinion though. If you try it let me know if it works.
I will, Diane! Thank you! I was thinking of cutting off both ends on the whole but like you said, the bacteria is the reason for blanching. I was going to ask on The Porch and tag you! Lol! Then you posted this! 🙂 <3
Thanks Jo!
Thank you! I’m new at this am I suppose to do anything since you posted my blog?
Sometimes I forget about how easy it is to freeze fresh produce..I’m working on freezing fresh corn. The process is very similar but green beans are definitely easier! Thanks for sharing!
When I was a kid my parents froze corn. They cut to close to the cob and the corn was awful. Because of that I never froze corn…lol Thanks for stopping by!
Ooh yeah corn isn’t as good that way for sure. My grandma always served corn that was frozen from her garden at all our family gatherings. We all loved that corn 🙂
My partner and I stumbled over here from a different website and thought I might check things out. I like what I see so now i am following you. Look forward to checking out your web page yet again.
Hello to all
In this baffling time, I love you all
Prize your family and friends
Can you freeze green beans without washing, thaw and wash then?
Not really since they need to be blanched before freezing.
