Slow Cooker Basil Garlic Pork Chops

This recipe makes the best Pork Chops. While it cooks it makes its own gravy. No need to set out knives with this meal, you can cut it with a fork! Serve with some noodles, as I did, or mashed potatoes for a great home cooked meal sure to please everyone.

Twelve ingredients and a slow cooker is all you need for this delicious meal.

Heat a large frying pan and 2-3 Tbsp of oil until hot.

In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, basil and 1 Tbsp of the paprika.

Coat both sides of the pork chops with seasonings.

Lightly coat the pork chops with flour.

Place pork chops into hot frying pan over medium heat and fry until a golden brown on both sides. Remove pork chops and set aside. Don’t they look delicious already!

Add another 2-3 Tbsp of oil to the same frying pan. Add onion and 1 Tbsp paprika, mixing well and cooking until the onion are just beginning to cook, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix water, dry onion soup and gravy.

Pour into the slow cooker.

Place pork chops in gravy liquid. Can’t you just smell it already? YUMMY!

Top with the onions. Put the lid on and cook on low for 6 hours without removing the lid.

Then serve!

Slow Cooker Basil Garlic Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 4-8 boneless pork chops, 1/2” to 3/4” thick
  • 2-3 Tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 dry pouch Lipton Onion Soup
  • 1 dry pouch brown gravy mix
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 2-3 Tbsp oil

Directions

  1. In a small bowl combine garlic powder, salt, pepper, basil and paprika. Coat both sides of pork chops with the seasonings.
  2. Lightly coat both sides of the pork chops with flour.
  3. In a large fry pan, heat 2-3 Tbsp oil over medium-high heat. Add pork chops and cook just until a golden brown. Remove from pan and set aside.
  4. To the same pan add 2-3 Tbsp of oil, add onion and 1 Tbsp Paprika, mixing well. Cook over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes or until they just start to soften, set aside.
  5. In a medium bowl whisk together water, onion soup and gravy mix. Pour liquid mixture into the slow cooker.
  6. Place pork chops in the liquid and onions on top. Cook on low for 6 hours without taking the lid off. Great with mashed potatoes or noodles.

  1. You are so right. They did look delicious after just going into the frypan…..and while I was reading your recipe Paul’s cooking our Sunday breakfast – bacon, eggs and oven roasted tomatoes. The smells from our kitchen, together with the photos of your pork chops definitely has me salivating.
