Our Sedona Arizona Vacation

Sedona, Arizona is a picturesque desert town known for its stunning red rock formations, vibrant arts, and spiritual vortexes. You can enjoy hiking, jeep tours, unique shops and galleries. The beautiful rock formations continue to be something we have never seen before. Driving into this quaint little shopping strip was so much fun!

Clear Creek Trading Company was the first shop we stopped at and my favorite.

The arch was so amazing!

It must have taken a long time to make this.

I thought this cute little bench belonged in my back yard, if only I had room in my Jeep!

For all the animal lovers out there, me included, please do not comment on the cruelty to animals.

Fascinating!

I found this pottery so fascinating that I had to buy one as a souvenir!

I thought this was so beautiful.

Before we left for our trip my mother in law said we should find some longhorn cattle. I did spot some but we were driving and they went by too fast. While in this unique store there was this picture. My husband said I should take a picture of this picture and show it to his mom and see if she really thought we were that close to the cattle, she did! In her defense, she is 96 years young.

Headed off for more shopping.

Always beautiful mountains at every turn.

You won’t need water for these metal plants.

Sedona shops are very colorful.

Two men were sitting on a bench showing off their pets. They let people touch and hold them. They had a cup for tips.

I had to laugh at this.

Cactus fascinate me. I even bought prickly pear honey and jelly and they are delicious!

This is why we took vacation in March, I wanted to see the desert flowers.

On our way out of the shopping area and to the chapel.

Left side of the Chapel of the Holy Cross, still in Sedona.

Front view.

The tree just to the right of the chapel near the top, there are two people standing on the circular rock. This gives you some idea how large this chapel is.
I can’t wait until Wednesday next week because we are headed to the Botanical Gardens. You will be amazed how beautiful it is there. We picked the right time to see all of the desert flowers.

Amazing
Thanks Derrick!
Sedona definitely looks like a fun place to visit! As a teenager, I loved watching the Karate Kid movies – Mr. Miyagi was my favourite. Those longhorn cattle are beautiful (bless your 96-year-old mother-in-law 😊). I’m not too sure if I would want to touch those ‘pets’ … I’m more of a dog or cat person! And wow, the chapel in the rocks is fascinating. I can’t wait for your post about the desert flowers!
My Granddaughter and I watched Karate Kids a few years ago. Now I think there is another one that is on Netflix. Thank you Corna!
Diane, how awe-inspiring! I so want to visit Sedona, and parts of New Mexico! How truly beautiful!
It was an amazing trip out west. It seemed like every mile was a new view with more pictures to take. Lol
Looks amazing, what a great place to visit. Like that sing above the cash register, made me laugh! Saw there was a big dust storm on the news near Phoenix the other day, hope you missed that.
We went in March a week after tornado’s, fire and a different wind storm. We had perfect weather for the entire trip, blue skies and no other weather events. We were so lucky! I loved that shop, they had other rooms filled with Indian made jewelry and so much more.
That’s good to know, so glad you missed those storms.
I am so glad you saw the red rocks! Sedona is beautiful! We love our red rocks!
I am also glad you saw the chapel it is quite beautiful. Inside and out.
This has been a fun series for me. I love Arizona.
Stunning views in Sedona and the shops!!!! We really enjoyed Arizona. There was a huge wait line going to the church but we hung in there. However, when we got to the parking lot it was packed with people and there was no where to park, we left. When we got home I looked at it on line. 😂
An amazing trip!
Thank you Dorothy, it was a great time.
Lovely photos, Diane! The desert flowers were worth the specific timing of your vacation.
That arch is something else! And you could’ve left your husband there to make room for the garden bench in your jeep. 😂😂😂
The animal merchandise are interesting. As an animal lover, I have no issue with them. It actually helps reduce animal waste.
What a trip you all enjoyed!
Thank you Ab! My husband cracked up over your comment.
We’ve been to Sedona too. It’s beautiful there. 🙂
It sure is!
🙂 🙂 🙂
We drove through Sedona once and need to go back to spend a little more time. I especially want to visit the Chapel. I have horsehair pottery from Arizona – thank you for that description! The Botanical Garden in Phoenix is stunning – can’t wait to see pics!
Oh yes definitely go back. As we were driving out of town headed for the church, the cars to get into Sedona shopping area were lined up for miles. We timed it right! You’re welcome Pam!
Diane did you hold the snake? I would have been freaked out over that snake!
No I didn’t hold it, there were too many people looking. I think snakes skin is so beautiful. I’ve never had one as a pet and I don’t want them in our yard but I wouldn’t have had a problem holding one.
“No Pricks Allowed” made me laugh also!
I so enjoyed your photos from your trip and wow the Sedona landscape is very picturesque! Fun the movie history and I wish I could see movies like The Karate Kid for the first time again. I remember how heart warming and awesome those types of movies were!
I never heard of horse hair pottery, that was pretty interesting!
The pottery was made by their local Indians. I could have bought so much more pottery but since we traveled to a different hotel almost daily, we had to carry everything in and out of each hotel. I can’t hide things in my Jeep because the entire back end has windows.
Oh that sounds a bit cumbersome but at least you got it home 🙂
I love Sedona!
We loved it too Beth.
Thank you for taking me to Sedona, Diane! Your pictures are beautiful. I was wondering if you purchased anything from the Clear Creek Trading Company, but then I read you purchased a piece of the horse hair pottery. I had never heard of that, but it looks beautiful! So, I guess you didn’t need an animal skull or head. 🙂 The church looks amazing. Did you go inside? I look forward to your next post. I can tell you really enjoyed this trip.
I bought the vase right behind the sign. I loved that almost all of the pottery, vases and jewelry were made by the local Indians. I only bought each of the grandkids a raccoon tail. They looked at me like “Grandma are you nuts?” Haha
Sedona has been the setting in several cozy mysteries I have read, but I have never been there. It looks beautiful, and is certainly full of interesting things to see and do.
It sure was and there was probably more to see but we saw what we wanted to see.
Very cool trip. Those are places I have wanted to go for a while but haven’t managed the time or the money.
We weren’t able until we both retired a few years ago. I hope you can take a trip someday soon. Thank you!
Not only are the red rocks amazing, but this quaint little town as well. Yes, that was an unusual store with the critters. Friends of the family traveled to South America and brought back a few souvenirs, spoons made with gemstone handles for my parents and for me a really unique-looking necklace. I wore a lot of turtleneck sweaters and brown was my favorite color, so I was already thinking what to wear it with, then I asked what it was made of … like Johnny Depp’s costume, the necklace was made from bird bones. I’m sure my face registered “OMG”! The two pets were something else! I’m glad you got pictures of so many things in this town.
Haha That must have been a shock, did you wear it?
I “modeled” it for them while they were there for dinner/a visit but couldn’t bring myself to actually wear it. Would you have?
Yes if I liked the way it looked.
Sedona is a magical place!
It sure is!
We visited Sedona when I was much younger. We did a lot of hiking. I have many pictures of the various rock formations and the names. It is such a beautiful place. I don’t remember that store though.
I think Sedona was our favorite stop. It was so beautiful but I could do without all the tourists. We lucked out as they were bumper to bumper driving into town as we were driving out. Everything but the missed lunched in Antonio was the perfect trip.
We spent 3 days there and it was wonderful. I agree about the tourists, even though we were ones. All the most well known places get so packed anymore.
