  1. I’ve been doing a lot of slow cooking recently. Something satisfying and sumptuous about the way it tastes. The hubby likes to use pop too and in his case, it’s a can of root beer. I bet you recipe goes well with a soft taco too!

  2. Sounds good. I marinated a roast in white vinegar for a day before cooking in a slow cooker and had it turn out so tender. The cola must serve in the say way-breaking down the protein.

      • I was going to send a link, then there were three (the Southern one looked the best) – go for it and post about it as it’s soon rib-cookin’ time!

      • Really? Wow – I assumed you made them on a grill only. My slow cooker needs to be revitalized! Right now I have ants scurrying around the countertop, so I’m debating if I should take a chance and make anything or stand there and guard it so there is no extra “meat” finds its way into the slow cooker. 🙂

      • Okay, I admit it looks easy. I have zero seasonings around this house. My mom’s were old and I asked Marge if she wanted them and gave them to her. I have my revolving spice rack, but those are as old as the spice rack. My mom kept it for show and used her own. I have to expand my horizons with the slow cooker. You know I bought all the spiral-bound cookbooks for it when I got it … they have dinners, desserts. lots of soups/chilis. I WAS supposed to do all this when I retired.

      • Well, I keep saying I’ll do things in the Winter, then don’t get anything done and now I’ve jammed myself up for Summer. The cookbooks have a lot of soups/stews which all looked good. Desserts too.

      • I do love cookbooks, it seems like I have to adapt so many recipes on line and cookbook recipes usually don’t need much adapting. You will find a day to cook.

      • I’ve been seizing the day to get out if it is good weather … they said five days in a row of good weather, but yesterday rained ’til noon and tomorrow it will rain at noon, now Tuesday and Wednesday are raining. Maybe a rainy Memorial Day too … maybe I could work in the house. I liked the cookbooks as they are all spiral bound so they lay flat to cook, that is if you decide to use them.

      • That is a good idea – you are smart. I don’t have an iPad or tablet. I bought all the crockpot cookbooks that were spiral-bound in case they didn’t carry them later as many of them were old cookbooks and I figured Amazon may not get more.

      • I have tried bread a few times… to a sad and embarrassing fail. My version of a superhero is a woman who can make her own sourdough bread and turn her own butter. I only wish! I aspire to be her! ✨💞

      • Want to have some fun? Buy some heavy whipping cream, pour it into a Mason Jar or a tall clear glass container that seals tightly. I used my quart Mason Jar, filled it up about 3/4 with the cream and took turns with the grandkids shaking the jar up and down as hard as they wanted until it magically turns to butter. The more that participates with shaking, the easier it is on your arms. After 5 minutes it will start to thicken and about 15-30 minutes the butter separates from the liquid. You will know exactly when that happens because it seems like you are shaking a while then bam, it’s butter. You can add salt to the liquid before you shake the jar if you want. The liquid that separates from the butter is buttermilk. Use it for cooking or drinking.
