Sausage Alfredo Sauce Over Pasta
Stovetop penne pasta that is coated in a delicious alfredo sauce with hot or mild Italian sausage and topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Hot Italian Sausage adds so much flavor, but mild sausage works well too. This is a hearty, cheesy dish and super easy to make. Cook your sausage, boil the pasta and toss with the Alfredo sauce and cheese, it’s that simple.
In a large pot start to boil the pasta according to the package directions.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Cook the pieces of sausage until no red remains and is cooked through. Remove the sausage to a bowl leaving the grease in the skillet and cover the sausage to keep warm.
Add the onion to the skillet and cook until translucent. Remove from the heat, add to the sausage and keep warm.
Drain the pasta when done boiling and add back to the same pot.
Add the alfredo sauce and heavy cream to the pasta, toss to coat.
Add the sausage and onion.
Add freshly grated Parmesan cheese, pepper, parsley and toss well. Cook over medium heat a few minutes until everything is hot.
Top each serving with freshly grated Parmesan cheese then serve!

I love your skills when it comes to cooking, dear. I tip off my hat for you. This looks absolutely delicious.
Thank you so much!
Looks and sounds delicious 😋
Thank you!
The hot variety for me please. The beauty of penne is that you can eat it easily by sticking your fork down the tubes.
Oh my gosh! That is exactly what I do too. 🤣
Great minds. 🙂
Creamy, cheesy pasta is always a winner!
Thank you Kevin!
Another crowd-pleaser Diane
Thank you Sheree ❤️
Thanks for the delicious weekday gourmet meal.
You’re welcome!
This sounds delicious. I like that you added cream in addition to the Alfredo sauce, Diane!
Using penne pasta allowed the alfredo sauce to fill in the holes which made it so good. Adding the cream with the alfredo sauce gave it the extra flavor and liquid needed to cover the pasta. Thank you Ab!
yummm
Thank you Beth!
Looks hearty!
Thank you!
Is that unique with sausage and tortellini Diane – I think it sounds like a delicious combo!
Thank you Linda, my 9 year old grandson was here and he looked at it and went yuck. Then he took a bite and said this is so good, he even asked for more. Hahaha
That’s funny – didn’t the smell entice him to try it? The sauce with the sausage – a wonderful smell!
He’s a meat eater and his mom doesn’t cook much so that helped. Lol
That’s funny!
Diane, I’m SURE the heavy cream has nothing to do with the deliciousness of this recipe. 😉 In the U.S. we bypassed many delicious foods (i.e. butter, cream, etc.) that the “experts” proclaimed were bad for us. I don’t believe anyone anymore. New old mantra–all things in moderation.😃
I agree with you 100% Linda. Calories in calories out!
Great pasta recipe !
Thank you it had so much flavor.
I love dishes that are easy peasy, yet delicious.
Anymore that’s all I have been making although I am starting to try some Asian recipes.
