Did You Know-Leftover Pizza

How many times have you thrown away leftover pizza? Maybe you tried to microwave it but found it lost its crispness and you could barely pick it up? Or did you put it in the oven and it got warm but dried out? Here is the best way I have found to reheat pizza with a crispy crust, warm but not dried out and the cheese is melted.

Heat a skillet over medium heat until the bottom is hot. I find my cast iron skillet works best, however, any nonstick or stainless steel works well too.

Once the pan is hot add a few pieces of the pizza and cook until the bottom turns a golden brown color.

Once browned add 1 tsp of water making sure it doesn’t touch the pizza.

Immediately cover the skillet so that the moisture stays in the skillet, this is what will help the cheese to melt. Turn the burner to low as soon as you put the lid on.

Leave the lid on until the pizza is as warm as you want and the cheese is melted. This should only take a few minutes, then enjoy!

life changing!
Thank you Beth! 🥰
That’s a great idea Diane though I’ve never had left-over pizza
Hahaha I always do but not my husband.
😎
Neat – if you can discern when the bottoms are brown 🙂
Thank you Derrick, it was easy to pick up the pizza pieces to see if the bottoms were brown.
Great idea! I will try this soon.
Thank you Harry!
That’s a great way to warm pizza through again and keep it just as tasty when it was first served.
Thank you Paul, I never seem to eat it all so I always have leftovers.
KWYM, we don’t tend to get much pizza leftover in our house, it nearly always gets demolished pretty quickly LOL, but this is a great way to heat up day old pizza.
Haha Thank you Paul!
Throw away leftover pizza! The horror of it. Cool I like this idea. I also reheat in the airfrier but that can get messy.
I agree, you never throw away pizza! I have been known to eat it two days later. (Don’t judge)🤣
Try 4 days later.
I knew there was a reason we get along! 🤣
I thought it was a love for food, leftover are the best.
Agree!
I’m gonna try it! Thanks.
You’re welcome!
Brilliant. I wish I had been told this 30 years ago. Thanks, D
Haha Me too! Thank you and have a great weekend!
I’ve never thrown away leftover pizza😏
Haha It would be a crime! My husband doesn’t like it left over but then again, he never has any. 🤣
I always use the microwave but this looks so much more appetizing! Damn. I think I’m hungry! Hugs, C
It definitely is to me Cheryl, give it a try. Now go eat! 🤣
Interesting tip. We go through a lot of pizza in this house!
Thank you Ab! I doubt you ever have leftovers with thre guys in the house! Lol
Sounds like a good technique. I used to crisp it up in a cast iron skillet and then microwave it until the cheese was melted. Now I use my air fryer and that works great too. Throw away pizza??? Never.😂
I like the air fryer idea too Linda! You know I put everything in the air fryer, I will try that next time.
Great tip, Diana! Thanks❣️
You’re very welcome Cindy!
This is a very interesting tip! When we have pizza left over (it doesn’t happen a lot), I usually warm it in the microwave and then it’s soggy (and I’ve burned my mouth a couple of times)! These days we usually eat it cold, but next time I’m going to take out our cast iron pan! Thanks Diane!!
I used to do the microwave too, Corna. It heats it pretty good but much to soggy. It amazes me how the little bit of water forms on the lid.
This sure is a great idea!
Thank you so much!
Great tip!
Thank you Mary!
You revived it Diane and it’s good as new and you know how we both love leftovers!
That’s for sure and I can never eat all my pizza at one time. Thank you and Happy Valentine’s Day Linda!
Thank you Diane – back at you!
This is great advice – thank you! Leftover pizza is never as exciting as when it is first out of the oven (John makes our pizza, we do not do takeout pizza)
Thank you Tierney! John is a jack of all trades!
A teaspoon of water that works magic? This is news to me. I’ll try it the next time I buy one. Thanks!
Yes when you immediately put the lid on it creates a steaming effect. Check out the lid in the picture, you can see the water droplets on it.
Wow Diane what a great idea, definitely trying this 😊
Thank you!
Tried this out last weekend. Worked great. For the second piece I added a little olive oil and it gave the crust a nice crunch. Thanks, D.
Awesome George thank you for sharing that!
