Did You Know-Leftover Pizza

How many times have you thrown away leftover pizza? Maybe you tried to microwave it but found it lost its crispness and you could barely pick it up? Or did you put it in the oven and it got warm but dried out? Here is the best way I have found to reheat pizza with a crispy crust, warm but not dried out and the cheese is melted.

Heat a skillet over medium heat until the bottom is hot. I find my cast iron skillet works best, however, any nonstick or stainless steel works well too.

Once the pan is hot add a few pieces of the pizza and cook until the bottom turns a golden brown color.

Once browned add 1 tsp of water making sure it doesn’t touch the pizza.

Immediately cover the skillet so that the moisture stays in the skillet, this is what will help the cheese to melt. Turn the burner to low as soon as you put the lid on.

Leave the lid on until the pizza is as warm as you want and the cheese is melted. This should only take a few minutes, then enjoy!

  1. Sounds like a good technique. I used to crisp it up in a cast iron skillet and then microwave it until the cheese was melted. Now I use my air fryer and that works great too. Throw away pizza??? Never.😂

  2. This is a very interesting tip! When we have pizza left over (it doesn’t happen a lot), I usually warm it in the microwave and then it’s soggy (and I’ve burned my mouth a couple of times)! These days we usually eat it cold, but next time I’m going to take out our cast iron pan! Thanks Diane!!

  3. A teaspoon of water that works magic? This is news to me. I’ll try it the next time I buy one. Thanks!
