Veldheer’s Tulip Garden-Holland Michigan
Today we came home from a two day trip to Holland Michigan to see tulips and other flowers. My husband and I took along my mother in law, she is going to turn 94 this week.
We also visited other attractions which I will post another day. I hope you enjoy these beautiful flowers as much as we did.

I wish I could have bottled up the wonderful fragrance from all of the Hyacinths beds!
After viewing the gorgeous flowers, we went inside the store, where they sell hundreds of bulbs. All of their tulips are in the fields so they weren’t for sale until fall when you are supposed to plant them. If you want to purchase tulip bulbs you can order them on their website.
Every type of tulip has this white tulip shaped sign with a number. So if you want to purchase a certain kind of tulip, you can mark the number down and order them in the fall.

There were tulips everywhere we went. Even in planters and all along the boulevards in the neighborhoods. A trip we will never forget. Thank you! 🥰
See the real Dutch tulip and daffodil fields near us and be amazed . Dutch industry supply me with over 5000 bulbs a year. My daffodils now area sight for sore eyes in my gardens that draw many to stop in cars at road side to photograph . Never been see in rural Latvia before. It amazes ,me how USA is built of copied names of World of Europe and England . I have friends in Paris and an American in Riga asked if she was born in Texas.=No one understood but when she said Paris France he walked way fast. I told Clare Elaine that Paris is in America too. .She smiled and shook her head .
Your gardens must be so beautiful. I still remember your post of some of them! We have to copy Europe and England for us poor folks that will never make it there to see in person. Lol

That looked like an amazing time out! The garden looks wonderful. It does feel like you’re in the other Holland too! It’s interesting to read they plant 5 million bulbs every fall. I though tulips come back every year? I wonder how they plant so many of them!
I wondered that too. I have tulips and they stay in the ground all year. They must dig them all up as they sell them in the fall.

It was and spending it with my Mother in law gave us lasting memories.
So there were no tulip bulbs in the store, just other bulbs for sell? It is such a beautiful place. Sounds like a good time! North of Seattle there are several fields of tulips. One place had a little train like ride that kids could go on with their parents, riding around the fields. Planes even offer fly overs then stops to picnic. Thanks for sharing.
That is correct, in this area the tulip bulbs need to be planted in the fall and they bloom in the spring. What they do is have you order what you want and then they ship them to you at the correct planting time. I would have loved to see this from a plane, what a great idea! The train would also be fun but I loved being up close to the flowers so I would have had to walk it too. Thank you Katelon!

What an amazing place to visit–a sensory experience! The first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the beautiful deep purple hyacinths was “oh, the fragrance!” Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos. I know it was a special time for your mother-in-law.
Hyacinths are my husband’s favorite flower that I grow. The fragrance was fabulous! Spending this time with my mother in law was something we will always cherish. She was so grateful and didn’t stop thanking us.

She kept up with us until about 4:00 pm. So we went to the hotel and took an hour break before going out to eat. Thank you Kellye, it was a fun time.
How beautiful Diane – I have never been to Tulip Time in Holland and only seen brochures, not actual tulips from a trip there. I wondered what the numbers were for so I am glad you explained why. I liked how they planted them in rows like that … more colorful that way I think. I saw some interesting varieties of tulips, including pointed and ruffled tulips and they all looked so tall. At least it didn’t rain for you … I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your two-day trip. Thanks for sharing!
