Did You Know – Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are an American candy by The Hershey Company consisting of a peanut butter cup encased in chocolate. They were created on November 15, 1928, by H. B. Reese, a former dairy farmer and shipping foreman for Milton S. Hershey. Reese left his job with Hershey to start his own candy business.Wikipedia

The original name was inspired by the cost because H.B Reese originally sold the peanut butter cups for a penny and named them “Penny Cups”.

Reese’s Peanut Butter cups begin with roasting fresh peanuts for REESE’S one-of-a-kind peanut butter. The peanut butter and milk chocolate are then dropped and pressed into a mold that gives REESE’S cups their iconic shape.
They sell over 2 billion Peanut Butter Cups every year.
The largest peanut butter cup in the world weighed 441 pounds!

Did you know that Reese’s has a university? An example of the application to enroll is below and the acceptance rate is 99.99% as the website states. However, the small disclaimer at the bottom of the site says that Reese’s lawyers want you to know Reese’s University is not a real university. It is just a means of celebrating your allegiance to the iconic candy brand that boasts tons of different products. You may not be able to live on the Reese’s Campus, but you can still buy the campus merchandise, laugh at the schools fictional course list and Fighting Cuppies sports team.

one of my favorite candies and that is a university is welcoming to all )
Haha I agree Beth!
The bit about the fake university made me laugh!
I had to read it over and over again thinking it was real at first. They even showed a picture of someone on campus. 🤣
Reese’s are my favorite!
Mine too and the best ones are the original shapes! OK I will eat any but the chocolate to peanut butter ratio is perfect in the original shapes. Lol
Peanut butter is loaded with protein and some good trans fats. Plus it tastes great. But with all the protein and stuff it can also be considered health food. Add to it the chocolate and you have a midday meal!
Does Reese’s University offer scholarships? Maybe i can apply!
I do love the way you think JC! I hope you are dong well 💕
Thank you. You may be the goddess of niceties too!
🥰
Well there goes my plans to attends Reeses U! Ha! Very interesting background on these well loved candies!
Hahaha I think we all would attend!
What a fun way to lead consumers and fans to feel involved.
It caught my attention because I had never heard of it. 🤣
Great trivia about my absolute all-time favorite candy. Thanks for sharing this, Diane!
You’re welcome, now if I could just enroll in their college. Lol
Me too, but it would be fun to have a sweatshirt or something.
Go on their site, I’m sure they sell them. What a great conversation piece a sweatshirt would be!
I just might do it! And when I do, I will let you know.
Yes please let me know, what fun!
Never heard of these, but I guess they must be tasty! 😊
You haven’t lived until you tasted one of these. They are amazing!
Hmmm, I gotta try it then. Will remember that!
One of the finest universities we have going these days. I’ve learned a lot from them (like how much I like chocolate and peanut butter for example), and am also one of their “most active donors” lol.
Well said Bruce, I really need to enroll!
This is my son in law’s very favorite candy. And I have to admit it’s pretty good. Thanks for another lesson!
You’re welcome Linda.💕
Go Cuppies!
Hahaha
Now I have learned about another favorite!
Mine too! Lol
That’s hilarious, Diane. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome Carla!
I do like these a lot, haven’t had one in ages but now I want one!
They are so addictive. If I start eating the small peanut butter cups I can’t stop! Go ahead and treat yourself, you deserve it! 💕
Yes! You are right, We do deserve it!
There’s a university I would have no difficulty getting into! We always eat Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups while traveling. We didn’t miss out on them this year, either.
What a great traveling snack, we do like a lot of the same things!
How fun is that idea with the university and swag! Well he was smart to start his own company. I think everyone loves Reese’s cups or candies … unless you are allergic to peanut butter, who can resist them?
When I first started reading about the University I thought it was real. Then as I read more I had to laugh! Yes, I think Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups taste amazing as well as Hershey’s chocolate! Guess where I just came home from? Holland and I thought of you as I drove through Michigan!
Oh, I didn’t realize the Tulip Festival started already – the news never even mentioned it. I hope it was good weather for you as I see you wrote this comment yesterday … today is the first nice weather day we’ve had since Saturday. Were all the tulips in bloom? Was it too much walking for all three of you?
It started Thursday I believe. We went early to avoid the crowds.
I didn’t know and they usually have ads or do news stories about it … I don’t blame you for going to beat the crowds as they are very busy … there are people go there from all over the U.S.
There was nobody downtown even it was perfect.
That would be perfect for me too. You were smart to go ahead of time Diane!
This looks like my kinda university … all play and no study 😄. Oh, and the Peanut Butter cups look delish too!
Me too! Thank you❤️
Even though they taste a bit too sweet for me now, I just love Reese’s. They’re building a new Reese’s factory in Hershey, by the way. When I was a kid, you’d drive through Hershey and smell nothing but chocolate. More modern production has interfered with that pleasant experience, but I think Hanover PA still smells like potato chips. 🙂
I didn’t know they were building a new factory Angela. What a shame the scent of chocolate is gone and potato chips wouldn’t be bad! A town not too far from us makes Heinz’s Ketchup and when you drive through all you smell is tomatoes.
My all time favorite treat! 💕C
You and me too Cheryl! 🥰
