Happy Fourth Of July

Happy Fourth Of July everyone. I hope you all get to spend some time with some of your family or friends today. I was lucky enough to have my cousin and her daughter camp out in my backyard all weekend and of course my grandkids are here to share in the fun too. However, Friday was an extremely “HOT” day and we spent most of the day in the air conditioned house and we went for ice cream. My sweet husband even cooked the hotdogs on the grill because it was way to hot too start a campfire.

The kids (big and little) wanted s’mores so about 8:00 pm I got the fire going. Do you think this fire will cook marshmallows? I made this with just paper, twigs and very old wood. I put our fire ring over an old stump hoping it would burn too but it wasn’t looking like it worked too well.

As we sat around the fire, with a full moon, our neighbor across the street was having a huge party. He lit fireworks all day and didn’t quit until almost midnight. We didn’t need to go looking for a fireworks display because it was right across the street! All this and it was only Friday.

Saturday is suppose to be just as hot (and fun) so we may be making our kielbasa, potatoes and veggies foil packets in the oven. We are having Campfire Fruit Pies for dessert which I hope I remember to take pictures of to post. Of course we bought all the legal sparklers, smoke bombs, pop it’s etc. for the kids.

So again, Happy Fourth Of July! Stay safe, have fun and cook a lot!

    • Thank you it was very hot out but so nice to see my cousin and her adopted daughter. They enjoyed camping in the yard. My granddaughter went out and camped all night with them too….her first time camping! I hope your 4th was just as good!

    • Thank you Laurel! I found the tire rim in the weeds at the end of our property years ago. I was so excited. My husband was in the pole barn completely on the other end of our property and I rolled that rim happily right to him! One persons junk is another persons treasure!

    • OMG they were going off all around us for 2 days. Not just the neighbors, who must have spent $2,000 – $3,000 on fireworks but we could see all the local towns shooting off theirs as well. It was like fire in the sky…lol It was a fun weekend. Thanks so much!

  1. It sure is hot and like that all week – we get to sizzle like sparklers. Your husband is a keeper Diane – I’m glad you stayed out of the kitchen with all the heat and it gave you longer to visit with everyone.
