Peanut Butter Smoothie

This is my kind of Smoothie! I love Peanut Butter so when I saw this healthy recipe I had to try it. I made mine super thick by adapting the recipe a bit. It was like drinking a delicious  milkshake.

The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the grittiness of the blended oats. It tasted great but it was just a texture thing for me. The oats are very healthy and I love oats, just not in a smoothie. This is a personal preference and next time I will leave it out.

  1. How many servings was this? The calorie count seems very high for a single serving. The peanut butter alone would be 800 calories. If the oats were cooked, or even just soaked in water for a while, first, that might provide the thickening and nutrition without the grittiness.

I’ve been having good luck with adding a tablespoon of peanut butter to a half cup of my new-found love, unsweetened tapioca pudding, and stirring it around good, and then sprinkling on cinnamon or pumpkin/apple pie spice. Using a small spoon, and nibbling at it slowly, calms down those hunger pangs for me.

    Virtual hugs,

    Judie

    • This was about 3 servings. I like the idea of soaking the oats first. I was thinking they should be cooked but soaking would do the trick! You can definitely cut back on the peanut butter. I am a peanut butter junkie!

  2. Oh yeah! Peanut butter ice cream. Hmmm… I think we talked about this before. 🙂 For a while I was on a kick to have a Royal Reeses Brownie Blizzard every day. Or maybe the Summer Cheesecake Berry Blizzard. GEEZ! I went off into la la land for a minute. What was this post about? Of yeah, the peanut butter smoothie. Not sure the oats would turn me on either. Maybe a banana with peanut butter. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.:)

  3. Oh, I bet this is good indeed. And you’re probably right about the oats, they break down better when heating them up. I bought a smoothie at a fast food place, it was awful. Anyhow, I may try this recipe later on. Thank you.

  4. i love smoothie so much. Thanks for sharing this yummy recipe. Keep sharing more delicious recipes on yours great blog. Hope you will soon visit my latest posts.

      • Good idea Diane – I make my oatmeal every morning, (the Old-Fashioned Quaker Oatmeal) in a mug and just run very hot water in it and let it sit a minute or two. I gave away my microwave years ago – no room in the kitchen as there is not enough countertop space and the microwave was downstairs … found a huge spider walking on top of it one day and I worried after that …. very scared of spiders. Anyway, fellow blogger AJ mentioned mixing creamy natural peanut butter in the hot oatmeal and I’ve been doing that – yummy! Easy-breezy for me who does not spend much time on food prep as it is (as you know). 🙂

  5. I will be finding the time to try this one. Favourite breakfast is Peanut Butter and Bananas on Toast with huge glass of cold milk… All that in one glass? I’m in heaven! Thank -you.

  6. I just can’t get over how amazing this sounds. 🤤 Hubby laughs at me because from time to time, I need a fix and grab a spoon to stick into the peanut butter jar and have me a couple heavenly tastes 😛 We are in total agreement my friend!

I used to love making homemade peanut butter milkshakes. This reminds me a lot of those! It’s on my must try list. You’re awesome Diane ♥

    • Thank you Holly we think a lot alike…lol This was my first peanut butter smoothie and I never even thought about a milkshake. I always get a root beer float milkshake. Have a great day.💕

      • Ooooh Diane – I think we might be long lost twins 😀 Root beer was my greatest weakness for years (especially the bite of Barq’s). I literally had to stop buying the mess because it was a wee bit out of hand 😂 So I’m right there with you!

Sending lots of love your way and praying your day is absolutely beautiful & stress-free. 🌻
