Caprese Tomatoes
Tomato with Basil & Mozzarella Cheese is an amazing combination. My husband and I usually like food fixed the same way but this is one we like differently. He likes this just like the picture shows, not cooked. Me on the other hand, I prefer mine cooked in the oven where the tomato is warm and the cheese is melted. So I will leave it up to you how you would like to fix yours. The recipe is the same either way other than mine goes into the oven.
Ingredients
Including olive oil to drizzle on top.
Spray a foil covered baking
sheet with olive oil.
Place tomato slices on the pan.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Sprinkle a thin layer of oregano
onto each tomato slice.
Place a piece of fresh mozzarella cheese
on top of each tomato. Sprinkle fresh basil
pieces on top. Drizzle with a little olive oil.
At this point you can go ahead and eat
these, like my husband does or…..
In a preheated 400 degree oven bake for
10 minutes until the cheese melts.
Place on a serving plate and serve hot.

Making these tonight! Thanks!
You’re welcome! So easy and delicious!
Looks good
They were thanks!
These would be amazing with fresh garden tomatoes. (Can’t wait for summer!) Store bought will do though. I’ll be trying this recipe this weekend. 🙂 Thanks!
I can’t wait either! I did feel the hot house tomatoes tasted more like garden when I heated them though.
OOh I should make these! They sound really simple and good 😀
They are and the taste……delicious!
Yep. This is a good one. Love mozarella, tomato and basil together.
Thanks!
A remnant from our working life is to have only finger food on Friday nights – no knives and forks allowed. We usuallly still try and add some veg or salad ingredients in finger food style to make it a balanced meal. This looks like an ideal addition.
Yes this would be perfect for that! Just don’t make it hot then because it needs a fork that way!
I’ve been craving slices of fresh tomato but this time of year the tomatoes are so disappointing in the grocery stores. Your post fed my craving, I might have to give in and buy some any way. I’d like mine cold, I must ask hubby if he wants his heated!
Oooh yes, looks delicious
They were thank you!
Just the way comfort food ought to be!
Lol that’s for sure Kimberly!
Good day dear,

best regards
SK
😀You have a great weekend too!
I am in your camp with this Diane cooked it is 🙂
Yes! more like it uncooked but not us!
This my favourites! delicious! x
Thanks they are delicious for sure!
Perhaps warm is good for fall/winter and uncooked is good for spring/summer? 😉
Definitely! The reason I like it warm is it makes the hot house tomatoes taste better. In the summer with our fresh garden tomatoes…..well you get the idea. lol
I would say I like the hot stuff!! Hello Donna Summer https://youtu.be/cDkCn1iEIac
I’m a food blogger too, come check out my page Sweet Sugar & Spice at lynnmcannon.com when you get time. I love Italian, thinking I should share my bruschetta!
Happy Cooking,
Lynn Cannon
LOL me too! Love your video and Donna Summers!
Easy and delicious!! Beautiful combo.
Thank you they are so good!
Thank you!
Drizzle a little balsamic vinegar on top PRESTO! Bruschetta cups! LOL
I recently discovered how wonderful balsamic vinegar is! I have really missed out! Lol Thank you Lynn!
This has nothing to do with the fab Caprese Tomatoes, but just wanted to say I tried your baked rice method the other night and it was really good! The rice was nicely done. So thanks for sharing that recipe. 🙂
Awesome I am so glad you liked it! Thank you for letting me know. I know everyone has different tastes and I love hearing when someone likes something as much as I do! Enjoy the weekend! ❤
Lovely treats! Sounds easy & tasty.
Thanks they really are! ❤
Oh wow! This looks so delicious!
Yes they are very good but they are best with home grown tomatoes. Thanks so much Jan!
I love the combination of warm tomatoes and cheese. I can’t remember ever topping the tomatoes with mozzarella cheese, though. I will certainly be trying this recipe.
Warm tomatoes are the best. I love when I make canned stewed tomatoes and there is some left that won’t fill a Mason jar. I get a spoon and eat it!
One of my favorite meals on a hot summer’s day-in that case I like it cold.I have actually never tried this dish warm, but it sounds good, too.
These tomatoes were from the store since we haven’t planted the garden yet…2 more weeks! There is nothing like picking our home grown tomatoes and fixing this. I have never tried this cold! I will have to do that this fall. Have a great day Tanja!
And you have a wonderful week, Diane.
This is making me hungry…. I love it both ways!
They are very filling and make a great meal! Have a great day!
Right! And those simple flavours are just too good! Thanks 😊
I think I’d like this hot too. I’m not a fan of cold fresh mozzarellla.
I honestly have never tried fresh mozzarella cold. I didn’t know anyone ate it cold until my husband said he would have liked them better if I hadn’t melted the cheese. I looked at him like he was nuts..hahahaha
It’s put into salads a lot here, but it’s to to my taste.
