Adult Cough Relief Recipe

This Adult Cough Relief Recipe is an all natural drink made with honey, lemon juice, bourbon and water that really helps my cough! I drink it before I go to bed at night and it helps me sleep.

Last Saturday I spent a few hours at the emergency room. They diagnosed me with acute bronchitis. I haven’t had bronchitis since before 1996 when I quit smoking! I had forgotten how long the cough lasts….3-6 weeks! They gave me cough medicine with codeine which really helps but always runs out before I need it to. So this is what I take at bedtime instead.

  1. This great recipe brings back childhood memories from 70 years ago… Whenever someone in our family got a bad cold, our Mom used this recipe, but used apricot brandy instead of bourbon… It worked… Us kids never missed a day of school… Those were the days before political correctness and us kids knew the brandy was only for colds using this recipe… I recall my Mother’s hot toddy recipe as being half the strength of yours…

Along with this, she rubbed our chest and throats with Mentholatum, had us wear woolen underwear, and use an extra blanket in bed… We sweat it out and felt great in the morning… Thank you for this reminder.

  2. I’m going to try this tonight! I’ve got an awful cough that I just can’t seem to get rid of and I’ve had enough! My little boy has it as well. I might try and make him a child friendly version of this!
