I’m going to be checking my peanut butter very closely now!
I wonder how they figure out how much is in there, so gross!
The FDA is jokeful indeed. 🙂 Best wishes, Michael
That’s for sure Michael!
Very interesting facts, Diane. I now have this image in my head of a potato farm and colony somewhere in space. Nothing like getting our alien friends hooked on carbs. 🤣
Haha I thought the FDA approval of larvae and mouse hair in food was pretty gross!
Yah, I don’t even want to think about that. 😆
love these, and many were new to me
I knew most of them, I also learned that the stores hire a visual merchandiser that specializes in the best way to entice people to impulse buying.
Most interesting little facts!
Thank you Dorothy! My husband always falls for the 2 for a certain price when you can buy one at same sale price. He buys groceries and said we will use it eventually. Lol
Maybe the FDA could drive those numbers down a bit more, Diane.😊 The almond fact was a big surprise to me – that’s my “learn something new every day” for today.
I agree about the FDA! I picked up a few facts I didn’t know about too.
This was a great article – Never knew they tried planting vegetables in space – Bedudes pistachios, cashews are also a fruit not a nut- When I was a kid I heard even a finger or two in your peanut butter 👍🏼🤓
Thank you Randy!
You’re welcome
Thank you Ned!
Oh gosh, the FDA needs to go away!!! Interesting facts I did not know raspberries were in the rose family!
I agree! It makes sense they are in rose family with all the thorns they have.
Interesting facts Diane! Especially about the fruit salad trees!
It is a tree that they graft different other trees with.
Some really odd things out there. I’m going to have to look up the fruit salad tree; it’s hard to believe that one is true. I can more easily believe the FDA “standards.” Yuck.
From what I read it is a tree that they graft other fruit trees to it.
I enjoyed all of these except for the larvae and mouse hair, how gross.
I agree Carla, I didn’t need to know that!
So many interesting facts!! But my brain can’t contain them all.
Haha Just remember the important ones. 🤣
Really cool food facts and that blows my mind that broccoli has more protein than steak!
I liked that one too, however, they didn’t say the ounces of each. I will take the steak and broccoli then I get double the dose! 🤣
I didn’t know any of these facts Diane, so thanks for sharing them, but … I adore peanut butter, so say that isn’t so please! The berries I can deal with as they grow on bushes, are outside, but I’ll never look at peanut butter the same way again!
I know, so nasty!
I will shut my eyes going forward when I eat peanut butter, but after I had bugs in my Shredded Wheat and a big fly in my creamed corn, I never bought those two products again. My mom found a nut or bolt in a cake she bought and the company brought a new cake to the house and picked up the piece with the metal in it. She found a piece of rag inside a jar of pickles in the middle of the jar. It was Vlasic. They sent a rep to the house to pick it up and gave her a box of all different types of pickles. It was heavy and he put it inside the door for her.
You know why they picked it up don’t you? They probably wanted the evidence so your mom didn’t sue them.
You are probably about that Diane. I wonder if my mom took pictures? I know she said they were really nice about it – that was long before this every day news items of metal fragments or glass or other items in our food. I told you before that Del Monte had an attitude of “it happens because no humans touch the food and it goes right into the can” … but surely, there is some type of quality control in place?
Now I can’t get some of these facts out of my head lol one I will always do is wash my berries as well as give up peanut butter lol. George H W Bush told us to eat our broccoli as he was made to eat it as a child and now in the White House he would never eat again then they shipped tons of it to him. I bet all the moms around the world loved that comment. 🙂 I will now double up on it putting it on my plate and also in my eggs to power up.
How funny, I didn’t know that about George H W Bush. As for me, I love broccoli. Back in the day I ate an entire head of the florets for lunch every day and lost 72#. The farmer market called me the broccoli lady. Haha
OH my GOD now I have to do that one day, then the grapefruit one and on and on, then once it’s gone I will eat normal again and gain most back probably 🙂
Haha We always seem to find it again.
lol
Wow, here are a few interesting facts that I had never heard before. Pistachios are a fruit – who would have guessed? Oh, and I’d prefer not to think about honey being bee vomit 😁.
Haha I know it sounds nasty but the peanut butter got to me the most.
Fascinating, I’m rethinking what I should or shouldn’t eat. Maybe I should learn to make my own peanut butter.
It is very gross to think about, however, I have been eating peanut butter for over 60 years and I never got sick. Lol
Yes, me to Lol. Happy New Year Diane, wishing you all the best for 2026.
Thank you!
