It’s Friday What’s for Dinner 12-01-23

Anyone that makes a homemade dinner is welcome to type the name of one recipe that you prepared, in the comments, then we can all scroll through the comments for recipe ideas. This will be a weekly Friday post and only recipes on the Friday posts will be allowed.

If someone wants your recipe and asks, there will be no pressure to share it, it’s up to you. I will accept links, but only to the recipe and NO VIDEO. It may take me a day to approve it so I can make sure the link is legitimate and not spam.

NO SPAM OR VIDEOS WILL BE ALLOWED, ONLY RECIPES OR YOU WILL BE BLOCKED.

I find the hardest part of making dinner isn’t the process, but figuring out what to make. So go ahead and post ONE RECIPE ONLY EACH FRIDAY in the comments or feel free to just read what others have made. Either way, I hope we all get some great ideas to make our meal planning easier.

My “It’s Friday What’s For Dinner” in the picture above is PIEROGIES & ONIONS.

We are having bratwurst with pierogis and onions for our dinner.

Melt 4 Tbsp. butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 large sliced onion and cook to desired tenderness.

Add pierogies, freshly made or thawed if frozen.

Continue to cook until a golden brown on both sides or until the potatoes inside are hot, then serve.

I also like to boil them first and then brown them for softer pierogies.

The link below is my home made recipe for pierogies.

    • These don’t have a whole lot of cheese in them. It is a very versatile recipe with mashed potatoes being the main ingredient inside them, then you can add whatever else you want or don’t add anything else. I do love the bacon inside though. Pierogies are actually a polish food and are sold at our grocery store frozen.

      • That’s so cool. Coming from a European background, I remember as a child getting together with grandmothers, mum, and aunts to make delicious recipes. Some of which I’ve long forgotten.
It’s important to pass down the culture, skills, and memories.

      • That’s wonderful!
My mother had her own recipe books but when she passed away, my brother (Executor) took everything to the tip! But that’s another awful story. 🙁

      • How sad but that makes me think about my collection of recipes. That is always something that could happen although I would hope not. I am sorry you didn’t get to share with her recipe books.

      • A lot worse happened but the recipe books was just one example. It’s also sad as one of my mother’s grand daughters asked if I knew how to make a particular coffee and walnut strudel my mum used to make. I really can’t remember how she made it and without her recipe, you can never recreate the same one. 🙁
I advise everyone to write things down if you would like certain people to in inherit certain things – it’s in black and white then.

  1. Mmm! Your pierogi dinner sounds delicious. We are having pork kabobs from the air fryer tonight. Our first time to do that!

    • My husband introduced them to me 33 years ago. His family would buy them whenever they found some homemade. Making them is time consuming but well worth every minute! Thank you 🌲
