Savory Rice
Back in the 1970’s I went to work for the Gas Company. I was a teller at the time and once a month the company printed off a free recipe card that we passed out to our customers. This Savory Rice recipe was one of those recipes that I adapted to my own taste. It is absolutely delicious and easy to make even for beginner cook!

Looks easy enough! I’ll be adding this one to my list.
Thanks you won’t be sorry!
You’re welcome! 🙂
Congratulations, dear Diane 🙂
A basic and nice recipe – amitiés
Thank you!
Oh this looks delicious. I am pretty sure its yummy.
Thanks it definitely is!
I’m always trying to make rice more interesting, and I love the idea of resurrecting some of those old “home economist” recipes from the utilities. Somewhere, I have (or had) one for a cranberry sherbet that was wonderful. Thanks for this!
I agree! Simple is best. I bet that sherbet is good!
I make it almost the same only not with chicken broth but with real chicken and carrot chopped into small squares. A drop of Madras curry powders and butter. Is therefore a meal in its self. Again so glad you liked my blog.
That sounds amazing! I enjoy learning your way of life as much as I do your blog!
That’s too neat! We have a little, private company, and they include a recipe in the newsletter, too. 😀
They weren’t all good recipe’s but this one I love!
This sounds so good! I’m always looking for ways to make rice better because I can never quite get it to come out how I like just cooked on the stovetop and haven’t invested in a rice cooker yet 😂 this seems like it would come out perfectly and I love the seasonings…and that story of saving the recipe card!
Oh definitely give this way a try. It was so easy and the taste was amazing!
We eat so much rice- this will be a nice addition, thanks!
You’re welcome! I wish I ate more of it because I love it.
Looks really good!
Thank you Valerie! It was a nice change of taste!
Beginner is me so I should give it a try!
Oh yes and this doesn’t make a huge amount!
Even better!
a meal staple!
my fav of all is indian yellow rice 😄
not sure why.
maybe cuz im thinkin its yellow color makes it taste more buttery? 🌼
Interesting I never made that before! I’m pretty sure I may have had it at a restaurant but can’t remember what it tasted like. But I do like your theory of the buttery taste…lol
What a great recipe that you could add veggies and even a protein. I love the history behind the inspiration of the dish.
I was only 18 when I got this recipe…yikes that was a long time ago!
My first real recipe was for Mother’s Day when I was 16 and made Sweet and Sour Chicken. I need to make it again and post. 🙂 And yes, that seems like a long time ago, LOL
❤❤❤❤❤❤
That looks like it’s made in a restaurant! Must try!
You are so kind Jess! Thanks so much!
You’re most welcome!

My family used to be crazy about rice, then something happened and now only our dogs eat rice O.0 but if I show them this it might change their minds!
Also question:
