      • Yes! My parents wouldn’t let me eat peanut brittle as a kid and I think I’ve just had it once. Since I have two crowns on my teeth, I’m reluctant to eat anything crunch – I hope it lasts the rest of my life.

      • Well I have two and I even wondered how I got cavities as I wasn’t allowed to eat candy, except my grandmother would sneak me hard candy when I went to visit her, but not to take with me for later, she just handed me some from a little tin her pocket.

      • Grandmothers are the best! I’m afraid it’s genetics. I had so many cavities as a kid until they put fluoride in the water then I never had anymore. The cavities left huge fillings in my teeth which over the years would crack, just about every year I had one. Now Trumps staff wants to remove it from the water. 🤦🏽‍♀️

      • Did kids here in the U.S. get fluoride treatments for their teeth? I remember I used to go once a year and the dentist propped my mouth open with big cotton sticks and painted my teeth with something that looked (and smelled) like clear nail polish. You had to wait ’til it dried. I am not keen on that idea of removing fluoride from the water – kids will be walking around with lots of cavities. Not good at all.

      • I don’t remember it having a bad taste. Our dentist always had bubble gum and grape flavored treatments. They really catered to the kids to make it a good experience. I didn’t ever have a Novocain shot my mom said.

      • Wow – ours tasted like the smell from nail polish. And I thought it was a pale blue, but that can’t be as our teeth would have been discolored. It was awful tasting – lucky you having nice flavors. I don’t remember if we got a shot or not, just remember they propped your mouth open with these cotton things so you wouldn’t close your mouth. It’s like going to get my teeth cleaned now … she has a drawerful of polish paste. My former hygienist only had mint. 🙂

      • My hygienist usually asks what flavor but occasionally she forgets and just dives right in there with mint too. I don’t like mint unless it has chocolate attached. Lol

      • Someone should come up with “Junior Mint” polishing paste! I used to use Pearl Drops all the time, then they discontinued it. The hygienist said “well I use baking soda” – it is not the best taste in the world and not a good option. 🙂

      • Yes, the Pearl Drops commercials – I wonder why they quit making it? Baking soda – no thank you. I tried it after no more Pearl Drops and it tastes awful. I don’t know if they still make this product, but my grandmother used a powdered Pepsodent toothpaste. She sprinkled it on her toothbrush … she used it for years.

  2. I’ve made this before and impressed the hubby with how it turned out. He loves brittle and you saved me a lot of money from the specialty candy shop, Diane! 😊

    • I can never figure out why they sell things like this for so much money when it’s this easy to make. The other one I love is my caramel corn. They charge a fortune for that too and both the peanut brittle and caramel corn are easy and delicious.
