Wake Up Deer

What a great way to wake up, drinking my coffee and watching these two deer while they eat acorns under our backyard oak tree. They came back two hours later for lunch.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Delightful
It sure was, this is the longest we have ever had deer stay, however, there were a lot of acorns.
Have a great weekend too. You’ve posted two of my favorites, the Rueben and upside down pineapple cake. 🙃❤️
Rueben sandwich is my all time favorite sandwich as well. The pineapple upside down cake is a childhood cake recipe my mom always made.
Delightful!
Thank you Barry and have a great day!
Delightful treat
Three of them came back for days in the morning and at sunset, I think they are bedding down in the small woods behind our house. One evening I was watching them and one of them stood up on his back hind legs, like a human. Then he came down, arched his back and jump up in the air on all four legs at the same time. I told my husband something was wrong with it. Then he mounted the female. 🤷🏽♀️🤣
You’ll be getting baby deer next
Don’t say that, we’ve been lucky and they haven’t eaten any plants except for last year, my hosta. It was nice watching them but I really don’t want them here.
I hadn’t appreciated that they’re a nuisance.
Thank you Ned!
That’s lovely! What a great way to start the day!
It sure was, thank you Paul!
Absolutely agree Diane, there’s no better way to start a day with a view like this! Happy weekend my dear friend.
Thank you Corna, I hope you had a great weekend too. Mine was happy because my contractor finally came back for a day after about 1-1/2 months. We are hoping he comes a day next weekend too. I’m anxious to share my before and after pictures.
And I can’t wait to see those pictures!
He has a lot to do yet 😩
You’ve been waiting for so long now, with just a little more patience, I’m sure you’ll be rewarded. Imagine how beautiful it will be when everything is (finally) done!
Up to now we have been very patient because I finally have all the boxes put away and the kitchen is completely useable. He installed the last of the cabinet molding last Saturday and it looks great. We just never understood why he didn’t paint and fix the ceiling and the walls before he installed all the cabinets. He wouldn’t have had to cut in around all these cabinets and to repair and paint the ceiling especially with the island installed. It will take him 4 times longer now compared to if he had did that part first. I’m a perfectionist and I don’t want any white paint on my gray cabinets. 🥴
Grr!!! Oh Diane, will we ever know what’s going on in builders’ heads?
Right!
Delightful!
Thank you June!
So pretty! We are enjoying seeing the deer and the cows where we are now. Your pictures are beautiful! Have a great Friday!
They hung around for about 4 days. The last day here, the buck (we had 3 deer after this picture) decided to try and make babies all for me to watch from the house. 🤷🏽♀️
Getting ready for winter!
What funny is there is a field 50 feet from our oak tree that wasn’t plowed yet. My husband loved that they cleaned up the acorns as there was a carpet of them this year.
That would definitely make my day too. 🙂
It was a nice start to my day.
🙂 🙂 🙂
Nice !! That’s awesome to have them right in your backyard.
Thank you Susan!
Isn’t nature great. This is so nice to wake up to.
It sure is!
I didn’t know deer ate acorns.
We didn’t either Stephen, they usually eat my hosta under the arbor. I think the cold weather killed them, so they didn’t touch those. We have a red berry bush, no idea what it is and they were eating that too. My husband said there was a carpet of acorns this year and when he cut grass today he said they were all gone. Thank you deer! Although the squirrel was looking for them today too. Lol
What a peaceful way to start your day!
It sure was, thank you!
What a wonderful scene to enjoy while sipping your morning coffee (and at lunch as well) – lucky you Diane!
We don’t see them very often, like every few years but they are definitely in the area. I keep looking outside to see if they come back but they haven’t.
They were passing through. 🙂 A friend of Marge’s sent me a Facebook message recently. She moved out of the area to a “cottage” (her words) near the Mount Holly ski resort. She says she looks out her door and sees deer, chipmunks squirrels, birds and other wildlife every day. I’d never get anything done – I’d be looking out the window all the time.
You would have to build a blind to hide in so you could take pictures! 😉
Yes, to hide and get great photos! I would like to see that.
What a magical thing to witness. I love that your backyard is an ecosystem for many beautiful birds and wildlife! One of the joys of living a bit further away from the city, I imagine!
Thank you Ab, perks to both area’s. I did my city life and now that we are older I enjoy the country.
Beautiful! The deer are enjoying the acorns in my yard, too! Always a thrill to see them, even though they eat a lot of our flowers and bushes in the spring and summer.
Last year was the first year we noticed anything being eaten, my hosta. The squirrels weren’t very happy after the deer left and ate all the acorns. Lol
So cute and lovely!
They were fun to watch!
That does seem like a lovely way to wake up😀
It sure was, I stay up really late (5:00-6:00 am) and sleep in until noon. That day I couldn’t sleep and got out of bed early. “Almost” makes me want to get up early everyday. Haha
Perfect Morning! They are darling!
They look like they are getting plenty to eat too!
