Did You Know – Bagels

Did you know that if bagels get stale you can refresh them?
Just dampen a paper towel and wrap it around the bagel.
Microwave the wrapped bagel on high for 10-20 seconds and it should taste like it was just baked!

This is the best tip I’ve read today! A warm bagel on a cold morning … please excuse me Diane, I’m off to the microwave with my 3 day old bagel!
Thank you Corna, I hope this saves you a lot of bagels!
great to know!
Thank you Beth!
Thank you so much! 🥰
What a great tip! Thanks, Diane💜
Thank you Jonetta! You’re welcome!
Thanks, Diane! My husband goes to the bagel store fairly often and always buys more than we need. I freeze most of them and defrost one or two as desired. I find just placing the defrosted bagel in a small paper bag similar to the ones from your local pharmacy and nuking for 15-20 seconds restores it to just-baked freshness. And the bags are reusable! 🥯
PS – I’ve defrosted frozen bagels in the microwave; I don’t like the way they come out. For my taste, it’s best to let them defrost naturally … overnight in a zip lock bag does the trick. BAG-EL!
Thank you for even another great tip Nancy!
That is a good tip. I love a good cream cheese bagel!
Thank you Ab!
Works great!
Thank you Dorothy!

I love bagels!
With cream cheese! 🤣
Thanks for another great tip!
You’re welcome!
I always WANT to like bagels but, ALAS! I don’t. Everyone seems to like them except me. Sigh.
I love cinnamon and raisin or blueberry with cream cheese. Not crazy about any other so I understand!
This is a great tip for reviving bagels Diane. Does this work with your son’s Asiago cheese bagels too or do they melt away?
I wish I knew, I never got to taste one Linda! Lol
My mouth was watering when you did that post about how he makes those cheese bagels … he won’t have time for that now with a brand-new baby in the house. 🙂
The baby has been up every hour at night! He seems to have his days and nights mixed up. We visited him yesterday and I got t see one eye then he slept. Of course grandma cuddling and rocking probably didn’t help. 🤣
You are a pro when it comes to soothing babies Diane. My mom told me when they brought me home from the hospital after my first 2 weeks in an incubator as I was tiny, I did the very same thing. My mom would sit up with me so my father could sleep and finally she asked the doctor if something was wrong that I did that. He gave her some “potion” to make me sleep, then I slept so much my mom worried and had to call the doctor again. 🙂
Awe thank you, I do love babies and kids. Hahahaha it was probably a splash of whiskey in that potion. Lol
I’d do better with a puppy than a baby having never been around them. My mom never said what it was he told her to give me, just that she finally got a good night’s rest but worried when I didn’t wake up.
Thanks for the bagel tip! I love your food education posts 🙂
Thank you Tierney, I am having fun blogging about them.
