Old Fashioned Baked Butter Potatoes

One of our favorite potato recipes is this simple Old Fashioned Baked Butter Potatoes. We usually add sliced onions too, but the grandkids were over, and they don’t like onions.

Spray a 4-quart casserole

dish with cooking oil.

Add the sliced potatoes

to the casserole dish.

Drizzle the melted butter

evenly over the potatoes.

Salt and pepper to taste.

Cover and bake in a preheated 350º

oven for 50-60 minutes or until

the potatoes are tender.

  1. I can’t believe how simple this recipe is … and it looks delicious! We love potatoes (in any form) and this just might be our next potato dish (we’ll probably add the onions)!

  2. Onions – and garlic too – is a taste that your grandkids will grow up to enjoy one day. I have no doubt. The potatoes look delicious. You can never go wrong with buttering things up! 👍

  3. I am sure these are like my mom’s “Company Potatoes” that I was trying to describe to you one day. Right down to the onions … there were lots of onions in between and my mom put breadcrumbs on top to make them crispy on top. (I didn’t like the onions as a kid either. 🙂

    • Company potatoes now are made with cheese and/or soup along with hash browns or cubed potatoes. I can’t remember if you said how your mom made hers. Did they have cheese too?

      • Maybe my mom just called hers “company potatoes” as they looked just like these in this recipe with no cheese, just pepper, onions layered in between the potato slices and breadcrumbs sprinkled on top. I was not a fan back in the day due to the onions, but changed my mind when I was older. I preferred fried potatoes or hash browns – more exciting!
