Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder, or to taste
  • 1-2 cups pizza sauce, or to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, or to taste
  • toppings of your choice (cooked meats, veggies etc)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Spread the butter over both cut sides of the bread then sprinkle with garlic powder.
  3. Cover a baking sheet with foil and place the bread on the foil, cut side up. Bake for approximately 5 minutes or until the top is lightly toasted.
  4. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and add pizza sauce to the top of the bread. Don’t put too much sauce on or it will be soggy and don’t let the sauce get too close to the edges.
  5. Add cheese and then your favorite toppings.
  6. Bake for 8-14 minutes or until hot and the cheese is melted, serve immediately.

  1. What a great idea Diane! Mine will probably end up with LOTS of cheese 😉 … I think we will skip the “buy a pizza once a month” and try this “make a pizza once a week”!!

  2. Looks like a wonderful activity to do with the kids and grandkids! And yes, food and groceries are getting just so ridiculously overpriced!

  3. We used to have the Stouffers French Bread Pizza – it’s been years as I don’t use the oven. This looks delicious – pizza is the only thing I really crave.

  4. Diane, I made your Easy Chicken Tortilla Soup on Wednesday and we enjoyed it for lunch three days. Very good! I’ll be making it again soon.
