Spam Fried Rice

Making your own Fried Rice is not just easy but delicious. You can use ham, shrimp or whatever is your favorite meat if you don’t have Spam. Are you making rice for a meal? Make extra and put it in the refrigerator, like I did, to make this Spam Fried Rice even easier for your next meal.

I used the Classic Spam.

Cook your rice according to the package directions.

Cut the Spam into small bite sized

pieces and dice the onion.

In a small bowl whisk the eggs.

Heat the oil in a large wok or skillet over

medium low heat. Once the oil is hot add

the onions, carrots and peas cooking until

the onion is translucent.

Add the spam and cook until hot.

Push the Spam and vegetables

to the side and add the eggs.

Cook the egg.

Toss the egg into the Spam and vegetables

then push it to the side and add the rice.

Cook until the rice is hot then toss it all together.

Add the soy sauce, toss well and serve.

  1. I have a favorite recipe for homemade Fried Rice that I really enjoy–it doesn’t call for Spam, but that’s a good idea. The part of your recipe that I think is brilliant is using SESAME OIL to saute the veggies! It would add so much flavor. I don’t know why I have never thought of that, but from here on out…Thanks for the tip.

  2. This looks so good!

One of my favourite memories of my dad, who passed away in 2008, was when I was child he would from time to time pack me fried sliced spam on a bed of white rice for my school lunch. I always looked forward to those lunches. Such a comfort food.

This fried rice looks equally comforting!

      • Our T gets a jelly sandwich most days. 😂 Can’t so the peanut butter anymore. But yes, I was quite lucky!

Do your grandkids get the spam fried rice for lunch?

      • They are actually getting free lunches, the entire school is. I don’t know if it is a state funding or what but they have since the pandemic started. Even when they were doing remote learning we went to the school and drove through a lunch line. Food was for 5 days. They take water and a snack and that’s it.

      • That is a wonderful program! We have a free snacks program but that’s it. I would love a lunch program. Making lunches are so annoying! 😆 Happy that you have this program!

  3. I don’t think I’ve ever bought a can of spam? Not sure I’m a huge fan? I’m thinking real ham would work too? Or maybe I should try it before I make up my mind! What a concept! Hugs, C

    • Cheryl you can use cooked ham, shrimp or chicken too. The fried rice is made the same way no matter what cooked meat you use. Spam tastes a lot like ham but softer and saltier, however, they make at least 12 different flavors of Spam. I have only tried the classic one. The first time I bought a can years ago, I stuck it in my cupboard and let all the bad things people have said over the years influence me. I ended up giving it to a food drive. Lol Hmmmm now the decision, do you try it or not? Let me know if you do and what you think. Lol

  4. I remember you said your husband liked Spam. This looks tasty. I like Spam as well, though I’ve not had a can of it in a while – now you can buy the individual slices if you’re so inclined.

  5. This looks awesome. The recipe is so simple. Definitely another receive for me to try. Lord knows I need some simple, delicious but easy receipe ideas.
