Baked Candied Pepper Bacon

Crispy, sweet, salty and delicious! Just when I thought bacon couldn’t taste any better. There are only three ingredients to make this unbelievably delicious bacon. I used my homemade jalapeño pepper jam on my bacon then topped it with black pepper but you can use any fruit spread or jam and still get a great result you will love!

Line a large baking sheet with foil.

Place a rack on top and spray with cooking oil.

Lay thick sliced bacon on the rack

in a single layer, try not to overlap.

Bake in a preheated 425º oven until it starts

to turn brown. Turn over and continue to bake

until the other side is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and pat the top

with a paper towel to absorb the grease.

Put some of the jam or fruit spread into a small

bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds.

Stir and if not spreadable microwave another ten

seconds or until you can spread it easily on the bacon.

Lightly cover the tops of the bacon with

jam then sprinkle with black pepper.

Continue to bake about 3-5 minutes or until the

bacon is crispy. Let the bacon sit on the

rack for about 5 minutes then serve.

  1. My husband makes praline bacon for our Christmas morning family breakfast. It involves brown sugar, peacans, and molasses. It’s fantastic stiff.

  2. Bacon is what you eat every morning in heaven.
A thought though…save some of the grease and use it to make bread. Delicious!!

  3. That looks so delicious! And here I am eating a bag of chips. Just does not compare to what you’re having!

    • I can’t put into words how delicious this was Ab! I didn’t think my husband would like it because I used my homemade jalapeño jam (he doesn’t usually like jalapeños) but he went crazy over it too. Thank you!

      • No judgements at all Diane! I don’t think I’ve had regular bacon on a BLT … since we were from Canada we used to get peameal bacon if we were at a butcher shop. Then it closed, so we used Canadian bacon … not quite the same. The peameal bacon fries up crispy with that cornmeal “crust” and a tiny strip of fat on it.

      • I have never heard of peameal bacon but it sounds amazing. I’ve had Canadian bacon for BLT’s at my mother in laws. I prefer regular bacon on BLT’s but I love to eat Canadian bacon all by itself, it tastes like ham to me.

      • It does taste and look like ham – I agree. I’ve had the strip bacon, but since we always had the peameal bacon, we had the Canadian bacon more. It’s more popular in Southern Canada.
