Meatball Subs

What do you make when you have leftover meatballs? Meatball Subs of course and even if the meatballs aren’t leftover this makes for such an easy, quick, filling and delicious sandwich. Made with a toasted sub bun, any type of meatball, spaghetti sauce and melted cheese.

Place cooked meatballs into a saucepan.

You can use any type of meatball you

want, I used chicken meatballs.

Place enough spaghetti sauce onto the meatballs

to coat them and still have a little extra sauce.

Heat the meatballs and sauce until hot, stirring frequently.

Place the opened sub buns on a baking sheet.

Broil until golden brown.

Place the meatballs onto the toasted bun.

Using a spoon, pour some excess sauce over the meatballs.

Top with as much mozzarella cheese as you want.

Place it back under the broiler until the cheese melts.

Then serve!

    • Hahaha Sorry but I had all those meatballs leftover and I had to do something with them. I have to empty my completely full freezer before November when our side of beef is ready and I took out a few too many. 🤣

  1. Guess what? We’ve just had meatballs for dinner tonight 😁 … but there’s only one left (not sure who’s going to watch and who’s going to eat tomorrow …). But looking at your recipe, maybe I’ll just make more tomorrow and try it your way! Looks so yummy 😋.

    • Hahaha that is going to be a small sub with only one! But seriously, make extra next time and then you will have a delicious and simple meal the next night. Thank you!

      • Diane, I recall your mentioning that the Z Nothing Beyond may be too spicy for your taste. It has a Habanero pepper as the main pepper, however, there is a list of other ingredients, as well as the 4 million scoville pepper extract. The pepper extract is the last ingredient, so it probably would not be detectable to the taste. Some other flavors balance it out.

  2. Oh yes! Every time we visited my grandmother this was my meal when the nice Italian lady down the street made a big pot of spaghetti and meatballs. I went to the bakery and got cheese buns and had meatball sandwiches. Yum!

    • Believe it or not this was the first time I ate these. I usually eat the meatballs plain but my husband loves the meatball sub so I broke down and had one too. Thank you!
