Air Fried Breakfast Sausage

Sometimes we love to eat a big breakfast as our supper. I used my new Ninja Foodi and cooked these breakfast sausage links on the air crisp (air fryer) setting and they turned out great. I am still experimenting with the Ninja Foodie and have loved everything I have made in it so far. Keep in mind I am making simple, beginner things for now. I still have not gotten brave enough to use the pressure cooker, but I will!

My Ninja Foodi came with two racks that can be stacked on top of each other. I cooked 24 oz of breakfast sausage in this Ninja Foodi, all at the same time, using both racks. I air crisped them at 390 degrees for 10 minutes, turned them over and cooked them until they were 160 degrees internally, checking them frequently.

Although these turned out great, the top rack seemed to cook faster than the bottom rack using the air crisp setting. So it is important to turn them over, check the internal temperature frequently and remove the ones that get cooked faster. I will never cook breakfast sausage on the stove again!

Do you have an Air Fryer? Give this a try.

  1. My daughter recently bought an air fryer and absolutely loves it. She used it for leftover corn on the cob and said it turned out amazing. She cooks so much in it now.

    • Thank you for saying that! I wasn’t sure if my followers wanted to know about what I make in the Ninja Foodi since not very many people have one. But then I figure and air fryer is an air fryer and same with the slow cooker etc. Wait until you see what I post tomorrow. Have a great day!

  2. Is there a Trader Joe’s in your neck of the prairie? They do breakfast sausage in the freezer case in two shapes: patties, links…both vegetable protein! Tasty, healthy, virtually indistinguishable from the original.

Not a vegetarian; but, very nutrition conscious. 2018/2019 I took off 80 lbs. and it’s stayed off. Even dropped another couple lbs. this year. And I refuse to turn away from flavors and saveurs I’ve always enjoyed.

    • Yes we have one about 45 minutes away. My husband has lost 95 pounds by eating low carb. I don’t know how he does it with the way I cook! Lol We go to Trader Joe’s about once a year. I will have to give them a try, thanks!

  3. Yummy looking – and now you need to wrap them in some pastry dough and make Pigs in Blankets. 🙂 After we got the microwave, my mom always had me cook the breakfast sausages in the microwave with a splatter screen so minimal – she loved no more muss and fuss!

      • Yes, I would take them downstairs in the microwave to cook them before I left for work. I’d bring them upstairs and be hungry from the smell and want to sneak one on the way upstairs. 🙂 My mom used to roll out the pastry dough for years, but I convinced her to use the Pillsbury pie crusts and just cut them and wrap them around the sausages. My mom was of the belief that if you could read a cookbook you could cook because that is what she did since my grandmother was not a great cook. So when she got married she had to learn everything. I told her she should have taught me how to cook through the years. She always wanted to do it herself. So I didn’t learn.

      • That’s too bad. My granddaughter told me last week that is one thing she will never forget, teaching her to cook. I think it is so much fun watching kids learn how to cook.

      • It is good – they look at it as fun as you have made it fun for them. Yes, it is too bad … I did get to lick the beaters or spoon though, so all was not horrid!

      • Oh that is fun Diane – so your recipes came out the same day and same way, so you felt like you accomplished something. So you started cooking really early then because of using the Easy Bake Oven.

      • I am sadly lacking in the cooking and cleaning department, but tried to make up for it today when I returned … but now, having made that effort, I didn’t get here until late so will be even more behind in Reader. I must seriously rethink this domestic stuff. 🙂

      • I know what you mean. I had all three grandkids this past weekend then had to drive my one grandson home on Sunday, 2 1/2 hour round trip. I am trying to keep up on my comments but so behind visiting my followers blogs. I hate when WP deletes comments in the reader if they are older than 2 days old!

      • Yes, it is like I have to make a decision what to do and one day I did Reader before Comments and had the same thing happen – annoying. I don’t go on WordPress to comment during the work day, but I do go there and review/mark the “Likes” as read before I can get there to comment in case it is a “space issue” with WordPress. My issue is staying up too late and then getting five hours’ sleep. I guess now that is darker in the morning now I don’t have to get up as early and could sleep longer. I decided I have to leave here earlier at night to get things done in the house before I leave, so less to do on the weekends. I am not good at juggling my time like I used to be when I was younger.

      • I have a painting project – very small, the outside doorframe on the door needs to be stripped and repainted … just a one foot area at the base of both doorframes and was hot and humid all Summer and couldn’t do it. I knew I had Rustoleum that I could use for the wood in the basement. Never thought to see what color – it was black. So I need to get to the store, buy some and hope one weekend I can mess with this job. Painting is not my favorite thing to do as the weather conditions have to be right before/during/after. It’s as bad as getting the moon and stars aligned!

      • Hahaha I bought my paint the week of St Patricks Day! Then a few days later the grandkids moved in. They lived here for 2 months 24/7 and just now getting started painting. Yes I procrastinated!
