A delicious Mozzarella Stick that is rolled in flour, egg and seasoned bread crumbs. These are made with string cheese and they are baked, not fried. They are frozen before baking so you can take out whatever amount you want and bake the rest another time. Serve these with marinara sauce, ranch dressing or like we do pizza sauce.

Place the cheese sticks onto the sprayed

baking sheet keeping them apart. Place

the baking sheet into the freezer until the

cheese is completely frozen. I didn’t let mine

freeze solid enough which resulted in taking

them out of the oven sooner and they didn’t get

as golden brown but they sure were good!

Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for

4 – 5 minutes then turn them over. Bake

another 4 – 5 minutes watching them

carefully. If the cheese starts to ooze out take

them out. Serve immediately with marinara

sauce, ranch dressing or pizza sauce.

  1. I’ve have recently discovered the versatility of these sticks. Four new baby pizza pans arrived yesterday, so of course I made pizza last night, but used fresh mozzarella on them. But these little sticks make great ad hoc pizza or spaghetti topping by just slicing them thin when I am too lazy to grate up some mozzarella for the occasion. Sometimes I slice them the long way for use on a sausage and pepper sandwich.

I have some already-made Italian breadcrumbs, so it looks like I will be copying your recipe very soon for these delicious-looking cheese sticks! ;->

    • There you go again….more inspiration Judie! This is the first time I have use string cheese for anything but eating them plain!!! Now you have my wheels turning…again! Thank you❤

  2. I have a tradition on New Year’s Eve that includes Mozzarella sticks. I’ve always bought them, and I’m now wondering why I’ve never thought to bake them myself! Thanks so much for this recipe. Tucking this one away for future use. 🙂

    • What I like is you can make them and once they are frozen put them in a freezer container and bake whenever and how ever many you want. They really tasted great Carla. Thank you!

  3. Ohmygosh yes!!!!! I need this!!! And I like that I can bake up as many as I want instead of a huge batch where half will be thrown out.

Do you have a favorite marinara sauce?

    • They have to be frozen solid before you bake them. I made them for my husband and he was leaving for work so I didn’t get them as frozen as they should have been. I had to remove them from the oven a little early but they still tasted great and were completely melted.

  4. I love mozzarella sticks, but just get them (occasionally) when I am eating out. I’m printing this out so I can enjoy them at home more often. Thanks for sharing!
