Sautéed Baby Octopus
I have always loved Calamari and whenever I see the breaded and fried Baby Octopus on a restaurant menu I have to order them. For those who have followed me for a while, do you remember when I went to Jungle Jims International Market last year? I bought all kinds of interesting food there. Click HERE to see our trip there. Anyhow, I bought these Baby Octopus there and thawed them out for my dinner. My husband had to work and won’t even try these so they are all mine.
There are so many ways to cook Octopus. I personally try to stay away from the fried recipes unless I order them out, I hate the mess. So I opted for the recipe on the package. Cooking them this way gave them a more chewy type texture which I love. They can be boiled for an hour, if you want them to be more tender or go ahead and fry them with breading. Anyway they are cooked, I love them. The next time I will put them into the slow cooker and see how they turn out.

I knew I liked you for some reason 😁lol!
You mean you like them?
I like a lot of things deemed weird and unusual. 👍
Diane
I didn’t eat squid because I never ordered or bought it because I once saw winding tentacles on a plate …
Regards
It’s not for everyone. I was brought up eating everything so the looks of the tentacles doesn’t bother me. I totally understand how you feel Ultra!
My husband would love this dish.
Not mine! 😂🤣😂
Diane, you make a lot of amazing meals, but I’ve gotta say I’m with your Hubby on this one. 😀
Where is your sense of adventure Robin? 😂🤣😂 Ever since I was very young my dad hunted rabbit & squirrel. We fished and picked wild mushrooms and asparagus, ate frog legs and more, so I am use to trying anything. But I truly LOVE calamari/baby octopus.
I’m not ashamed to say that I don’t have much of an adventuress spirit when it comes to food. I did try rabbit a few years ago and a friend brings a couple of wild mushrooms each year if she finds a lot. but that’s the wildest I’ve gotten. I love lobster, crab legs and shrimp, but haven’t tried any other seafood. 🙂
Well that’s pretty good!!!
Are they chewy? I tried squid once and found it rubbery.
It all depends how it is cooked but yes that is the texture. When they are breaded and deep fried they are much more tender.
Sorry but I don’t think I would ever want to eat this.
You aren’t the only one that has said that. Calamari is breaded, looks like onion rings and is easier on the eyes…lol
Never had octopus 🐙
If you ever see calamari on the menu (usually an appetizer) give it a try. It is one of my favorites!
I will.
I’m sorry, but I didn’t live through this………
And I thought you were adventurous! 🤣😂🤣
Hehe did I say that?
Wow – you are brave, but I have tried them before and may have mentioned before that I was tricked into trying an octopus stew – not told the contents and saw the suckers – an OMG moment. Yes, they are chewy, like clams would be my description.
Yes great example! I have never heard of Octopus Stew!!!! I would love that!
He was Maltese and it was a spicy stew, very thick with a tomato base, lots of veggies too. It was tasty and I was enjoying it, until I saw the tentacle sucker – OMG!
Oh my that sounds SO GOOD!!! Well for me at least! lol
Delicious! I love baby octopus!
I know it is amazing!!!!
One of my fave dishes.
So good any way they are cooked!!! Have a great week!
Very good! I like it 😊
Thank you!

My favourite!!
Wow I wouldn’t have guessed that Saania!!!!
I’ve never had octopus. Just can’t get myself to try them!
But this is a great recipe for those who love octopus!
I will try just about anything once but octopus I love!! Thank you!
Interesting meal. Thought it was mushrooms at first glance. Your photograph captured my attention before reading the title. Looks delectable. 😊
Thank you very much!

Wonderful! We make them on occasion!
I saw the image first and thought it was seashells!
I’ve never eaten squid, but would be down to try it someday.
I love this stuff!!!! There are so many ways to fix it. If you ever see calamari on the menu try it.
