Macaroni Grill Copycat Penne Rustica
Penne pasta, shrimp and chicken all tossed with a creamy cheese sauce then baked in the oven for an amazing meal. This is great as a family meal or for guests. Prep time is about 25 minutes and cooking time is an additional 10 – 15 minutes.

Ingredients
In a large skillet over medium
heat melt the butter.
Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
Add the rosemary, mustard, garlic salt,
heavy cream and cream cheese.
Stir until the cream cheese melts and
mixture is hot and bubbly then set aside.
Spray a 9″ x 13″ baking
dish with cooking oil.
Place the cooked pasta into the baking dish.
Sprinkle with the cooked bacon, optional.
Although the bacon added some flavor, we did
not care for the bacon in it as it was really soft.
Add the cooked chicken
and cooked shrimp.
Add the salt & pepper.
Add the green onions.
Pour the cream mixture over the top.
Sprinkle with the cheese and paprika.
Bake in a preheated 475 degrees oven
for 10 – 15 minutes until hot, bubbly and
golden brown. Let sit for 5 – 10 minutes.
Place on serving plates and enjoy!

Penne Rustica was served at the rehearsal dinner for my daughter’s wedding. It was made by the aunt of my son-in-law. I plan to add this recipe to my page soon. It does vary slightly. Thanks for sharing. I will definitely be trying.
Wow what a nice meal for a rehearsal dinner! You’re welcome Nicki!
Looks good and bet it smelled heavenly in your kitchen after preparing it Diane.
Thank you Linda. That’s one advantage to a small house, the aroma from the kitchen travels through the entire house…lol
Looks delicious, Diane, but chicken AND shrimp together sound a bit “thick” to me. Mind if I try with one or the other? 🙂
Oh yes that will work. I even thought about doing the shrimp on one side and chicken on the other and getting 2 different meals out it.
It looks delicious. I’m thinking maybe to add crumbled bacon at the end of the cooking time could help.
Great idea and maybe just on the top, not in the liquid. Thank you!
Yum, yum! 🙂
Thank you!
This looks sooooo good! Somehow, I missed it in January 2020.
