Don’t you hate it when you hard boil eggs and they don’t peel? Have you ever wondered if an Egg Cooker would make them peel any better? I have never used an Egg Cooker before and I asked for this one for Christmas. Below I will show the steps to making one dozen hard boiled eggs in this Egg Cooker. Some of my followers have told me that they have an Egg Cooker and they love it. Read on to see what I think of it.

In the directions it says this Egg Cooker also steams food and cooks eggs soft boiled, medium boiled and hard boiled. It also makes an omelet or mini omelets, but for the purpose of this review, I am only going to review the hard boiled eggs. If they just make hard boiled eggs well it will be worth it! I haven’t tried any of the other types of food with it yet.

The first thing you do is measure the water

in the container they give you. They have

a chart for the amount of water needed

for the eggs cooked different ways.

Pour the water into the bottom of the steamer.

Using the pin in the bottom of the

water cup, poke a hole into the eggs.

eggs are done it will beep

How it cooked.

This is by far the BEST gadget we have ever purchased. I have never been able to boil or peel an egg this perfect before. Note that there is not a bit of green on that yolk.

CONS:

  1. I put a hairline crack in 2 of the egg shells when I pushed the pin through the egg, however, I put them in the cooker anyway and they still turned out perfect. It was the first ones I did so it may be I just needed to figure it out.

PRO’s:

  1. The directions were understandable.
  2. The cooker is very easy to use.
  3. The eggs were cooked perfectly with just the push of a switch.
  4. The eggs peeled easily.
  5. The eggs tasted great.
  6. Clean up is a breeze.
  7. It has other accessories to make omelet’s, however, I have not tried them yet.

I give this Dash Deluxe Egg Cooker a 5 out of 5. I have never cooked a hard boiled egg this perfect ever!!!!

I have NOT received any compensation for my review.

  1. Very cool Diane! We had an egg cooker that was shaped like an egg and you put it in the microwave; in fact, as I am writing this, a blog post is showing below with the same gizmo. It was plastic and there was a metal tray to put the four eggs and water in the bottom, put it in the microwave – maybe 10-12 minutes? It’s been a while and I gave the microwave away. They cooked fine and always yellow yolks too. One time I didn’t have the lid on quite right and the four eggs, already cooked, exploded in the microwave – what a mess! We had a gizmo to pierce the hole in the egg. You sat the wide part of the egg gently right onto the needle that stuck straight up and pushed down on the gizmo and it made the hole – no cracks. I found it on Walmart for you: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Fox-Run-Boiled-Egg-Piercer-Prevents-Breaking-During-Cooking-Deviled-Easy-To-Use/107581337?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=16184&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=42423897272&wl4=pla-51320962143&wl5=9016916&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=120820808&wl11=online&wl12=107581337&veh=sem&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIsLbo8bv65gIVj4bACh1xmAxkEAQYAyABEgK69fD_BwE

    • How cool! I can’t believe they used a metal tray for the microwave!!! My granddaughter went crazy over the taste of the eggs made in this cooker. My husband had to run and get more eggs because we devoured the first dozen! Thank you for the link I can’t believe how cheap the egg puncher is!

      • Yes, a metal tray and four eggs stood up straight in them, then you put the cover on. We used it for years. You’re welcome Diane – my mom used to use the needle too and sometimes would squeeze the egg the wrong way and it cracked (or broke). It is easy peasy – even I could use it. 🙂

  2. Very interesting. I was always taught the older the eggs are the easier they are to peel. Who knows how old they are when you buy them at the grocery store. They aren’t fertile, so they can keep in cold storage for A VERY LONG TIME. I would say forever, but I think that would be stretching it a bit… I have my own chickens and I always use the oldest eggs for boiling. Since the chickens have been on vacation, the eggs are getting a bit old (and I neglected to refrigerate)… So, I but some in a pan to boil a couple of evenings ago and within a few minutes, I heard a pop. Hmmm… I guess they were a bit too old, huh? Out the door the whole pan went. LOL! Unfortunately, the Febreeze bottle was empty. Getting back to your experiment with the steamer. I have an ordinary steamer and I wonder how it would work? Poke a hole in the egg and put enough in the pan so they all stand up… I do have more eggs. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    • OH MY!!!!! So your saying your house didn’t smell eggcellent? Where did the chickens go for vacation? lol Let me know how your steamer works. My steamer made them perfect in about 18 minutes. Have a great week!

      • Answer to first question: Hmmm… Answer to second question: They didn’t go far. I think they are just on strike. I will let you know how the steamer works when I give it a try. You have a great week as well. 🙂

  3. I’ve had good results making hard-boiled eggs in my Instant Pot, but I don’t think the Instant Pot will do a dozen eggs at a time. This sounds like an interesting appliance.

  4. What is the purpose of the hole in the top of the egg? (My best success with hard boiled eggs has been in a steamer basket in my InstantPot but I didn’t poke a hole in the top of the eggs, that’s why I’m asking. Thanks!)

  5. What an awesome gadget! I’ve always let my hubby be in charge of boiling the eggs because he’s the expert at it. But I have to wonder if he’d enjoy one of these? I must say, that egg looks perfectly delicious! Thanks for sharing this one Diane. We just might have to consider giving it a try. Every now and then there really is a gadget to save time, aggravation and everything else worth every penny! Looks like you’ve found yours! 😀

  6. You did a fine job with your review and glad it worked out so well – my hubs uses the instapot for his eggs and it is Similar to your smooth success here 😉

    • Yes I can…woo hoo!!! I made 2 soft boiled eggs and they were so good. They only had the directions for 6 soft boiled eggs but how in the world would I eat that many? So I added water and timed it for 6 minutes and they came out perfect.
