  • ½ pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  1. This looks incredibly crunchy! I’m wondering if a quick blanch might not tame it a bit, or are the florets soft enough as is? I’ve used this type of dressing on homemade Cole slaw, but it looks fab on here, too.

    Virtual hugs,

    Judie

    • The vinegar breaks it down and takes away that “Crisp” crunch. I like this best the next day. Just stir it frequently to keep the dressing mixed in with the broccoli. It is my favorite salad!

  2. I always look forward to this at office parties and potlucks. Someone is always sure to bring it and it is SO GOOD. Maybe this year I’ll try my hand at making it since I work from home now and office parties are a thing of the past. LOL

Once again, a big shout out to people like you who show us pictures of the ingredients, and especially the vegetables since I never know what size the vegetables are supposed to be after they are chopped, sliced, or “cut”. Pictures are so helpful. Thank you!

      • The pictures help SO MUCH! It’s funny because I saw a complaint by a guy somewhere saying how he doesn’t need to see pictures of the ingredients. Yah, well, buddy, some of us do! LOL I’m a visual person. I read “put this in a 3-cup mold” and I’m like “How the heck do I know if this is a 3-cup mold??? It doesn’t say on it!” But if I see a picture of the mold next to something I can get an idea of the size. I finally found a chart that I printed out that tells me how to figure out the size of the casserole dish if it doesn’t say on it. LOL

      • Oh, one more example if I may. This one person said “Dump in a VERY BIG bottle of BBQ sauce.” That doesn’t help me!!! Every grocery has different sizes. One grocery only carries small size bottles of things so I would need to know is it 48 ounces? Ok then let me buy 4 of these small bottles. She did, at least tell us the brand of BBQ sauce she prefers for the recipe so yay to that. LOL

    • It is very good but I know you don’t like things very sweet so when you make it, as you add the sugar do it slowly and add to your taste before mixing it with the broccoli. Thanks Hunida!

      • Aw wow that’s so sweet that you remembered that about me, Diane! <3 Thank you for the tip, we will remember that when we try this!

  3. The ingredients doesn’t list oil, but direction #2 mentions mixing oil with the mayo & sugar. Is the oil missing in the ingredients?

  4. This is very similar to the broccoli salad I make except my recipe doesn’t call for cheese. But who doesn’t like cheese and bacon??? Unfortunately, around here in NH, the broccoli season seems to be over. It is best with fresh broccoli.
