Today’s post is not going to be a recipe. Instead it is food related but all about Jungle Jim’s. What is Jungle Jim’s? It is a international market with over 200,000 square feet of shopping and over 180,000 products that they sell. It is located in Cincinnati Ohio. Jim was born in Loraine, Ohio and was born in 1949. He started with a roadside stand and grew to what it is today. They sell products from over 70 countries and I bought a cart full! This will be a lot of pictures so enjoy, I sure did!

This last picture is what drew us here in the first place. We saw it as one of the places with the best bathrooms on the Travel Channel and I had to see it. We drove for hours and I was so fascinated by everything we forgot to go and see the bathroom! That was about four years ago so this time it was the first place I went to!

I took over 100 pictures and tried to pick the best ones to show you. We didn’t even make it to the produce section. I hope you enjoyed seeing this as much as we did going there! If you get the chance to visit here, wear your walking shoes and take coolers, we filled up two!

    • I have tried making alligator two different times and it was so fishy tasting. I think it was because it had been frozen. I ate alligator bites in Florida and they were delicious.

  1. Holy cow!! I want to go so bad!! How long did you stay there? I could get lost in that place! You got some different meat for sure. Ground camel? I had no idea that was a thing. I wonder what it tastes like?😁 You must have spent a fortune but how can you possibly control yourself right? The spice isle would probably kill my budget by itself!!😁 Thank you for sharing your trip with us Diane! I am so stinking jealous!!💜

    • We left at 9:30 am and didn’t get home until 11:30 pm! We did make two other stops for lunch and supper. It was about a 4 hour drive each way and we stayed at Jungle Jim’s for hours. I am so glad I thought about taking a cooler. They had ice so it was perfect! I have had the camel and antelope before and they are a very lean dry meat. We bought those for a friend that makes his own sausage and thought he could do something with them. This was the second time we have been there.

    • Yes he has a fascinating story! Oh I bet there is nothing you couldn’t find. Then they had Mexicans stocking the Mexico aisle, Asians stocking the Asian aisle etc. It is quite a place!

  2. Wow Diane! A food lovers paradise. Can’t wait to see what you do with all those ingredients, although I’m not sure I could eat turtle soup!

    • Joni the turtle meat was my best find! I have looked for turtle meat for decades! I even asked our local butchers and nobody could get me any. I have settled for buying turtle soup by the gallon from a local restaurant. It actually tastes like hamburger but the soup is spicy.

  3. Wow! Such amounts of food. Some of them didn’t even have mouths, e.g. alligator meat. I don’t know if it’s tasty. The seafood was indeed fresh.
    best regards

    • I have eaten turtle soup since I was a child. They used to serve it in a restaurant here but they closed and now a restaurant makes it 20 minutes from my house. I buy the soup by the gallon from them because I could never kill them myself. I have never seen it for sale until now. It is snapping turtle and we have a lot of them in this area. My son went fishing in a creek next to my neighbor and one bit his hook! He had to ask the neighbor to unhook it & let it go. I could never kill anything but I will eat it. Thanks for your comment!

  4. I cannot get over those seafood counters, they are magnificent. As a point of order, 200,000 sq. ft. is not a market, it is a bloody aircraft hangar!

  5. Oh my gosh, I could spend hours & hours there! You found some really interesting stuff. I can’t believe their bathroom is what makes them famous?! Lol. Thanks so much for sharing with us, Diane!

  6. Whoa that’s insane I’d love to visit that market sometime as well. Theres definitely some stuff in there that I was like “they sell that??” Lol
