Wisteria Arbor
I wanted to share a picture of my arbor that is covered in wisteria vines. I finished putting 28 bags of mulch down the 50 foot long arbor. I do this about every three years to keep the weeds under control. The flowers are finished blooming this year but a few years back I posted a picture of my arbor in full bloom. That arbor’s quite something, and the photos of the flowers in bloom are stunning. I do love wisteria, and always admire it in spring. It’s not so common around homes here, but it’s native, and can be quite a sight in the woods.
Thank you! Wisteria is gorgeous in the woods as it takes over everything. I have a very large cherry tree next to the arbor and we have an awful time keeping the wisteria vines from climbing onto it.

Awwww thanks! It was more like 20 pounds per bag and 28 bags. 560 pounds. I was definitely sore the next day….lol

Thank you Mitzy! Yes I do a lot to control it. Not as much now that it is old but it is a labor of love! Like any vine it is always growing, except in the winter.

looks good to me. i have a rose tunnel arbour 100 feet long from one gardens linked to new gardens gates. Here I used metal posts and bent metal arch in top each side welded as timber exposed to winters and snow on roses weighs heavy next thing down it came so metal lasts and no matter what snow we have all is fine. We garden lovers and cooks just love to see who others do it. Feel proud dear it looks good as it is but I bet a wonderful arbour in full bloom. Thank you for showing it.

You are most welcome. Yes gardening and food seem to meet in the middle same as mankind needs food so do gardens. Having this estate is hard work but will soon be as perfect as my plan one hopes. Lake excavation now as cant start Roman garden works until all is complete. Major effort for one lone man but God would not allow it unless he knew my determination and skills. Sometimes so tired out but sleep like a baby so its still a trade off to my thinking. I want to bring in photo shoots once Edwardian 1092 gardens is up and running to make a buck or two out of it.This allows me to have gardens for us to love and use and one or two days a week cash making out of it.

Does Wisteria get rid of weeds?
Oh how I wish it did…lol but no, Wisteria can be invasive if not trained and given constant pruning. It is a vine and wants to go everywhere.

Thank you. The purple is called Japanese Wisteria and the pink is Chinese Wisteria. No idea what the difference is other than the color.

BREATHTAKING…I’ve always wondered if it would grow for me in Florida. My lavender always dies. OTHERS I plant thrive!
I’m not sure but I would think not. I live in Ohio and it freezes here so the wisteria goes dormant for about 5-6 months.

How beautiful… wisteria always reminds me of Provence, where it blooms abundantly everywhere. We had wisteria over a pergola in our last house, but nothing like yours! I don’t know where you find the time to do so much!
It’s a labor of love. I’m retiring in less than a month so life will be getting much easier!

I remember when you showed me the wisteria before when we were discussing them – yours is just exquisite and they are alot of work but once they are established, they are a gorgeous addition to the garden – your wisteria is the largest group of the vines I’ve ever seen.
The largest I have ever seen too! hahahaha I never do anything small. I swear I just finished pruning them and my husband informed me today they need it again! Good thing they are worth it!
Yes they are and something to enjoy for such a short time and then the cooler weather arrives and the beautiful blooms are gone – I am seeing leaves scattered on lawns and at the park everywhere – cannot understand that, as I know it is hot, but all that rain we had??

I have a best friend that is a photographer and she has already done that! She used my entire yard even put them on the swings from the large maple tree. Of course I didn’t charge her..lol
