Taco Pie
Wow this turned out fabulous! Tortilla’s with layered taco flavored ground beef, salsa, cheese, taco sauce and refried beans …….Yum! You can make this in an 8” or 10” cast iron pan but you can also use any oven safe dish that is about the size of the tortilla like a 4 quart casserole dish.
Ingredients
In a large frying pan, cook ground beef
over medium heat until no pink
remains then drain the grease.
Add the taco seasoning and taco sauce.
Mix well then stir for 1 minute
and remove from the heat.
Spray a 4 qt casserole pan or an 8” or
10” cast iron pan with cooking oil.
I used a 10” cast iron pan.
Place one tortilla flat in the pan.
Spread half of the salsa over the tortilla.
Spread half of the refried beans over
the salsa. I put the beans into a bowl
and stirred them with a spoon to
make them easier to spread.
Add half of the ground beef mixture.
Add half of the cheese.
Now repeat – tortilla, salsa, refried
beans, ground beef and cheese
(only add 1/2 cup cheese saving the
other 1/2 cup for later).
Cover with a lid or foil and bake in a
preheated 350 degree oven for 15 minutes.
Remove the pan from the oven and
add 1/2 cup of remaining cheese. Place
the pan back into the oven, uncovered,
for 3 minutes or until the cheese melts.
Remove from the oven and add the
green onion and diced tomato.
Slice and serve.

I love things like this!
I agree! I could eat one pot meals every day!
This looks delicious!
Thank you it was so good!
This looks yummy and easy, but I could see it making a mess. As my granddaughter says, “I make a mess Grandma” I will probably give this a try though.
Hahaha love kids! Actually not that messy because you eat it with a fork. It comes out of the pan all together just like the picture because I used 3 tortillas to hold it together. It was so good!
I will have to give it a go then. Maybe this week when my granddaughter comes over for Thursdays with Angela.
Let me know if Angela says it’s messy. 🤣😂🤣😂
Taco pie oh my! You got some delicious recipes going on!
Aw thank you!
Thank you!
Diane,
I want to try this one. I don’t own a cast iron skillet. Do you think you can do a post where you recommend some cast iron skillet brand…and maybe another one where you recommend some basic cooking/baking ware everyone should have in their kitchen.
Thanks
Hmmmm I will need to think about that one. It will give me a day off from cooking…..lol I will definitely try but not sure how soon. Thank you for a great idea!
This looks delicious!
Thank you I will definitely be making it again!
How strange. How delicious looking 😊💞
And really, really good! Thanks!
I’ll have two servings please! 😁
Oh trust me one serving will fill you up…lol
That’s a hearty pie – yum!
It sure is! I cut it into 8 pieces and I could only eat 1 piece!
I made something very similar to this recipe … it’s delicious. And I could pack the leftovers for the next days lunch.
I bet it made a great packed lunch! I had a piece for lunch and it was cold and still great!!
This is right up my alley, thanks!
Me too! I’m still eating it every day…lol It is just as good reheated.
Pie looks so tasty.
Thanks!
I had this at my school and it was pretty good.
It sure is!!!

Yum – I missed this one last night … I’d eat that cold too Diane – just sayin’. 🙂
I still have 2 pieces left I will send them to you…lol
Thank you Diane – and I was just going to have some Goldfish before I went to bed – instead I’ll have some Taco Pie.
Oh, this looks so yummm….
It turned out delicious! Thank you so much for your nice comment!
Looks like it would be the Mexican version of sloppy joes. 🙂
Yes you’re right! BTW my mom couldn’t find the lemon recipe so if I ever come across it I will post it for you.
Alright. Thank you for asking. In the meantime, I’ll see if whipping it longer will make a difference.
I hope it works out for you!
It may be a while before I make them again, but I’ll let you know. Then you’ll be off the hook for a recipe. 😉
Hahaha I guarantee when I find it I will make it. I want to see yours because it may be totally different than what I am thinking of. ❤️
Hmm. I’ll see what I can do. Actually, I once took a pic and emailed the recipe to someone. I could email it to you too? You can email me, and I’ll send it along, if you’d like.
That’s a great idea! One of my other followers gave me his recipe and I did a blog on it. It turned out great.
Wow, sign me up for this one!
