I finally came up with a delicious Homemade Meatball recipe that my husband and I both absolutely loved! I made these with half ground beef and half Italian sausage. I used an ice cream scoop to form them so they are as big as they are good!

  1. I’m never happy with baked meatballs, but my guess is that the sausage in this recipe has enough fat to keep them from being dried out. Baking is a lot easier than standing over a hot stove to fry them, and it’s surely better for you. Still, the memory of the aroma and taste of my mother at the stove on Sundays, frying the meatballs in a tiny cast iron pan… not sure there’s anything better!

    • And the memories are even better than the smell! Yes they were not dry at all especially after going in the slow cooker smoothered in sauce to finish cooking them. Thanks for sharing a beautiful memory Angela!

  2. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe Diane! Truly marvelous! I might try to make it without the tomato sauce because I am a no-sauce-kind of person 😛 Have a truly amazing Thursday!

    • Aw you are so welcome! Make sure they are cooked through when you take them out of the oven. If you are not going to cook them in the sauce in the slow cooker you may need a few extra minutes in the oven.
