  1. Haha, it’s funny it would be called Torte! I mostly make plum cake that looks more like a plum pizza than a torte while using apples for a recipe similar to yours (calling it Apfelkuchen rather than Apfeltorte, though), but this looks awfully tasty indeed and we shall try it for sure. 🙂

  2. A New recipe ” Torte!” That’s the main reason why i am here i mean following your great blog. I hope you will also follow me back on my new blog & like my recipe Creamy Minestrone Soup. Thanks for sharing. I will soon checkout your blog again.

      • Thanks. Your my mother loves the recipes shared by you. Currently she is not fit due to health issue & her age 76 years. So i cooked dishes for our family after reading them on your blog & as per her demand.

      • Awwwww that is so sweet!!!! You are an awesome son and your recipes look just as good as mine do so I’m sure she enjoys your recipes just as much! Thank you for sharing that, you made my day!

      • Only God is great. It’s my duty to take care of my parents because they are old now. My mom is almost 75 & my dad is 81. Previously when i was a small kid & teenager they take care of me & fullfill my all wishes now it’s my turn to make them happy. So they are great & god is great not me. I am just very small. Only a small kid.

  3. This brings back memories of the damson plum trees we had when I was a little girl. Unfortunately, a blight killed all three trees one year so that was the end of our plums. My mother made pies, puddings, and all sorts of yummy things with those plums. Your torte looks very good. I might look for plums at the store today!

    • I grew a plum tree because I love them too Janet. It grew into a beautiful tree but never produced any fruit. I’m figuring it either needed a mate or the tree I bought wasn’t a plum tree. Thank you Janet!

  4. This looks good and sounds uncomplicated to make! Will give this a try next year. Sadly, it is too late for this year as the birds and wasps cleared all four trees 🙁

  5. Looks great. I don’t have a springform pan. Can I just use a cake pan? Also, can you use other fruit with this? I was thinking of peaches.

    • Yes use any pan just line it with parchment paper or aluminum foil leaving it stick out of the pan. Lift it out carefully, peel it off and place on a plate. I love the idea of using peaches! I think it would work well.

      • Just after I read your recipe I was in a grocery store and a worker was gathering up all the plums. I asked him why and he said he was moving them to the front of the produce dept. so people would buy them as the plum season was ending.

      • Diane I have a random question for you. I’ve been on the road for almost 9 years now, staying in other people’s home. A few have had good knives but most places haven’t. When I get to leave where I’m at presently, I’d love to get a few good knives before I go…..one for chopping, a bread knife and a small one for slicing. Do you have any recommendations regarding brands?

      • That is funny you ask me that, nobody ever has. Over all these years I have tried so many different types of knives. My favorite knife for dicing, slicing and cutting smaller pieces of meats like chicken, round steak etc. is my ceramic knife. I did a post on it a while back. My favorite bread knife is one I bought back in the 70’s and I use it for cutting melons and bread. As for steak knives, same thing, I am using serrated ones I bought decades ago. I’m afraid I have no idea what brand they are, sorry! My ceramic knife is my favorite and I will be adding more to my Christmas list this year. I swear, it cuts everything so well, even my glass 9” x 13” glass dish! I would suggest starting out with a ceramic knife. Mine is a Kyocera and the blade is 4” long. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it didn’t come in a case. It is very sharp so I took foil and made a sleeve to slide mine in and it works perfectly!
