Oh yes the house smelled amazing! Thank you Linda!
You had me at “lemon.” “Poppy seed” was an added bonus.
Matt this is so delicious! It gets even moisture the next day. Thanks!
I have also been looking for a good lemon poppy seed loaf. I wonder if it would be good if I added a lemon glaze to it. I love lemon glaze.
Yes the original recipe actually had a lemon glaze drizzled over it. I just opted to leave it plain. My favorite way to make lemon glaze is to add lemon juice to confectioners sugar and that’s it. If you have never tasted it do try it sometime, it is amazing.
I definitely will.
Enjoy!
Looks super delicious! I could very well imagine the beautiful lemon flavor inside your kitchen while baking. 🙂
Oh yes is smelled so good! Thanks!
This looks soooo gooodd!! I love that it’s lemon!!
Can’t wait to try this one! An interesting tip I just learned for leftovers/stale cakes (like we ever have that problem!) — seems they have been an essential ingredient in Jewish baking forever. “The Real Secret Ingredient” according to “Inside the Jewish Bakery” by Stanley Ginsberg and Norman Berg, used to thicken, create ‘invisible’ layers to prevent meringue from sliding off, absorbing juices in pies, etc., etc.
Oh I definitely have NEVER had that problem either…hahahaha However, that is very fascinating and I did not know that! Thank you I learned something new today!
Ooooh, I love lemon poppy seed! Sounds delicious.
Me too! This is a great recipe and I hope you get a chance to give it a try Myndi.
Happy to save this recipe and try when time allows as spring is here and gardens will not wait
We may not get to plant a garden this year because of the virus. Everything is shut down and I don’t know if we will be able to buy plants. We don’t start our own plants from seed unfortunately.
Will try this today .Sounds great for morning coffee
How did you like it?
Your delightful recipe combines 2 of my favorite ingredients, lemon and poppy seed). It will definitely be made soon in our house.
Thank you Bernadette, the two go together so well!
