If you find that you need Evaporated Milk and you don’t have any, you can substitute it with this recipe. It takes about 5 minutes to make from start to finish and replaces a 12 oz can you buy at the store. This tasted very good!

  1. Evaporated Milk and Condensed Milk, always wondered what they were all about for recipes. All I know is, I like Coconut Milk best!

  2. I always have evaporated milk around the house in the Winter as I stock up on groceries so I don’t have to go out in Winter. I hate to drive in the snow, and usually by September I have stocked up on most of my pantry items, but since it has been so hot and humid this year , I’ve got nothing in yet. I also have powdered milk in the house in case I don’t get out for fresh milk. One year we had a bad snow and the snow plow came along and plowed me in at the end of my driveway … that happens every so often, except this time we had freezing rain right afterward and the rain froze the snow piles. I could not get out of the driveway until March. That was during that first Polar Vortex we had … I was set for food but had my canary then and liked to get him fresh greens so I went with my neighbor every so often when she went to the store.

  3. Summers are indeed golden here but snow is so deep Elks are the only ones that can walk in it. For some 5 weeks we are house bound deep in the forest lands but we have roaring log fires and big freezers on food with jars of preserved condiments and TV and wines who needs to go out the house is big enough to loose your self in .Only the hens to care for and hand shovel the snow from their yard deed water collect eggs breakfast back inside with bacon black pudding fried tomatoes and baked beans with chili chopped in to the pan. Tea and hot buttered home made toast. Who cares about driving until it melts. Some great meals we produce too with all the time in the would to do that too. Summers work hard time. Gardens ducks lake fish hens grass and fencing all to sort.
