What a great tasting breakfast when you make your own Homemade Waffles! I picked the blueberries fresh from my two blueberry bushes in my garden making this taste even better. This delicious recipe makes 12 waffles in my waffle maker. I bought my waffle maker for $1.00 at a garage sale and it was brand new! If this is too many waffles for your family, wrap them up and freeze them!

  1. Not only did you make wonderful homemade waffles, you also picked blueberries from your bushes!! They look amazing, and I love a good waffle!

  2. Looks delicious Diane – don’t fret about what to do with leftover waffles. Toast then and put ice cream in between for an ice-cream sandwich. Voila!

      • I grew up in Toronto – when I was growing up I went downtown with my parents at Christmas time and for clothing, etc. Between two big department stores (Eaton’s and Simpson’s) was a tunnel between them and there was a vendor who sold hot ice cream sandwiches. He would heat up the waffles and plop a square of ice cream in between and put it in a wrapper to eat. It was delicious. My mom used to make them – toast the waffles in the toaster and you used to be able to go to the store, like a small Mom and Pop grocery store, or even a drugstore like CVS, etc. and buy those tiny bricks of ice cream. Just slice them up – I don’t even know if they make those tiny bricks of ice cream anymore, but that is what we used. Hot ice-cream sandwiches … best eaten over the sink as the ice cream melts quickly!

      • I agree Diane. Good luck finding a square brick of ice cream though. Like I mentioned, we bought the very small bricks and they were very easy to slice … we got four ice-cream waffle sandwiches out of one of them. You used to be able to buy large square bricks of ice-cream and we had a Tupperware that you opened the flaps of the box and just put it right in the Tupperware. That worked too as you just sliced off what you needed – bigger slices though. Enjoy!

  3. Yum! and perfect timing. We were on vacation and the lodge where we stayed had a professional quality waffle maker. The kids had a great time making waffles every morning. I will have to be on the prowl for a more economical waffle maker now.

    • It seems most of the hotels have those now. I always have to make them when we go too. Those are the best because it’s all made up for you yet you get to cook it fresh! Thanks Carrie!
