How many times do you find a recipe that you want to make and it calls for Self-Rising Flour but you don’t have any? I can’t tell you how many times that has happened to me. Don’t skip that recipe, just make your own Self-Rising Flour in just a minute!

According to King Arthur Flour, Self-Rising Flour is traditionally made from a softer and lower protein version of all-purpose flour. This recipe is a higher protein all-purpose flour but it can be used in any recipe that calls for Self-Rising Flour. However, they also state you will most likely need to increase the liquid in your recipe slightly due to the higher protein level.

In a small bowl whisk all of the ingredients together really well.

Use in equal amounts in place of store-bought Self-Rising Flour.

  1. Now you got me with that. Yes and you can guess what comes next, no sale of it here at all. Best flour is used on all sales really good flours but self rising is like Lazerus from the dead to these peoples. I will now make it at home thank you for that dear lady

  2. I’m still using the homemade baking powder recipe you shared in another post – and I’ve found my baking rises perfectly every time. Sometimes I wonder about the freshness of the baking powder and self-raising flour because the soda in the baking powder breaks down in air and slightest hint of moisture.

    • I am so glad you liked the baking powder recipe! I agree, you never know how fresh store bought is. I love this recipe because it makes a small amount keeping it fresh as well.

  3. Thank you 🙂
For me, there are no such types of flour. Will type 450 also be used with wheat flour?
    Greetings
