Italian Marinade for Chicken
My favorite Italian Marinade for chicken is Good Seasonings Salad Dressing. I don’t know if it is because of how quick and easy it is to make or the taste of the seasonings in the dressing. It is a dry mix that comes in a pouch. We buy it in this small box of four.
For complete instructions to marinate chicken pieces see the recipe card below.
You can cook your chicken pieces any way you would like. The chicken in the picture was cooked in our smoker. You can also bake or grill them for an excellent taste as well. Whatever way you decide to cook them, just make sure the internal temperature of the thickest part is 165 degrees.

Oh my goodness, I bet those would be delightful smoked!! Thanks for sharing Diane!!
Oh yes we love smoked food! Thank you Heather!
looks yummy
Thank you!
This works great on fish, too.
Thank you I never ever considered fish! Awesome idea!
If it’s a dense, tougher fish, marinate longer. But if it’s a light, flaky fish, an hour or so is plenty.
We catch perch and walleye. Walleye are biting right now!
Latvia is the nation of real smoked meats and fish. Then packets of ready made anything not exist outside of suberbia.
Better off not using packets! Making them from scratch is so much better. I am slowly doing away with prepackaged foods. Americans have come to rely on convenience and quick cooking.
Nice recipe
Thank you!
I’ve baked chicken using Italian salad dressing (liquid) and it turned out moist and delicious. Will have to give this a try!
I have use the bottled dressing as well, all works fantastic! Thanks Jacquie!
This looks delicious. I’ve also used bottled dressing – cooked the chicken on the grill and baked in the oven. All delicious. Thanks for reminding me – now I’ve got to cook up some chicken.
Whenever we do this I make a huge amount so I can eat the leftovers (cold) for 2-3 days! I just love this stuff!!!!
And left over chicken added to a salad is awesome!
Oh yes! I love preparing a meal when the meat is already cooked and when it is smoked it adds a whole different taste to your dish!
I love Good Seasons dressing, but never thought of using it as a marinade – thanks!!

Thank you Linda I have done this for years.
Looks really tasty Diane. I think my sister would like this, I’ll have to try it.
I love to use Italian Salad Dressing to marinate food. It can be used for just about any type of meat. I hope your sister likes it!
Oh yummy! We use mesquite marinade by McCormick and love that too.
I absolutely love mesquite and never get it because my husband doesn’t care for it.
We’ve tried Italian dressing for grilled chicken before, but we always seem to catch it on fire! I like your method better. Thanks, Diane! ❤️
Oh no! I love how moist it makes the chicken in addition to the flavor. 💕
