  1. We make something similar but don’t add cheese. Hamburger helper contains MSG, which is one reason I quit eating it over a decade ago. Your option looks great!

      • With dietary restrictions, I had to convert to 90% homemade. The nice part is, my daughter has been bitten by the baking bug. She’s is working her way through my Betty Crocker Cookbook. My house smells GREAT when I walk through the door each night.

      • Kudos to her! I taught both my kids (adults now) how to cook and they are amazing cooks. I still use my Betty Crocker cookbook. It makes a great gift for any level of cook!

  2. Being the simple cook that I am, and also being fond of simple fare, Hamburger Helper is one of my all-time favorite things to make (any type). 🙂

    • Hamburger has always been a cheap meat and not having a lot of money always made this one of our favorites on a tight budget! I also love the chili Mac one in my files. That is my favorite! Have a great weekend Linda!

  3. What would you recommend as a flavor substitute for someone who is intolerant of onion, but wants a little more depth of flavor in recipes like this, if anything? Please and thank you. 🙂
