Amish Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole

6CB940BC-8C9E-4B9D-8B99-2C2BAAEC9BADThis is a dish that will please everyone! You make the casserole and let everyone put on their own toppings. When you prepare the toppings, just think cheeseburger toppings like bacon, onion, tomato, cheese, lettuce or pickle. My grandchildren loved that they could put on their own toppings.

  1. The basic casserole reminds me a lot of some of the ground beef casseroles we had when I was a child in Pennsylvania. The toppings are a nice way of updating a classic comfort food.

  2. It seems to be a good recipe, but two things I will never do: add ketchup and cook pasta (Barilla!) together with the other ingredients 😁
Pasta should be cooked separately in salted hot water until ready, about 10 minutes, added and stirred for a minute just before serving 😋

    • Many of our recipes cook the pasta in the sauce which allows the sauce flavor to be absorbed into the pasta. A lot I do as you do and cook in salted water. I respect your method of cooking and agree with you most of the time but some dishes, like this one, just tastes better to us cooked this way. Thank you for your honest opinion and comment!

  3. Looks tasty. I had always imagined the Amish community to have eaten a more bland diet. I’m learning differently from your posts Diane. It doesn’t matter what one reads, the reading always provides learning.

    • I have always been fascinating with Amish life. If they had electricity I could live like them. I love Amish cookbooks and even the Amish Facebook cooking pages. Thanks so much Chris!
