Lemon Basil Pasta

If you love lemon and basil, then this meal is for you! Add in some freshly grated parmesan cheese and you have the most delicious flavored pasta. I never thought my husband would like this and he went back for seconds. This Lemon Basil Pasta is so quick and easy to make that any level of cook can make this. What a nice change of flavor with pasta!

Ingredients – I used my home-grown and dehydrated basil.

In a large pot cook the pasta according to the package directions,

saving 3/4 cup of the pasta water and then drain.

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.

Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, basil, pasta water, salt and pepper.

Bring to a simmer.

Add the cooked pasta to the sauce.

Toss the pasta with the sauce.

Keep tossing over medium heat until the

pasta is hot and the liquid is absorbed.

Remove from the heat and add the 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese.

Toss the pasta until the cheese is melted.

Place the pasta on a serving dish and garnish with

 freshly grated parmesan cheese then serve.

Lemon Basil Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1# spaghetti noodles
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • 1 Tbsp. dried basil ( 3 Tbsp fresh)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup pasta water
  • parmesan cheese for garnish

Directions

  1. In a large pot cook the pasta according to the package directions, saving 3/4 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, basil, pasta water, salt and pepper and bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the cooked and drained pasta to the sauce.
  4. Toss the pasta with the sauce. Keep tossing over medium heat until the pasta is hot and the liquid is absorbed.
  5. Remove from the heat and add the 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese.
  6. Toss the pasta until the cheese is melted.
  7. Place the pasta on a serving dish and garnish with freshly grated parmesan cheese then serve.

    • No I have not tried lemon oil. Do you buy it that way or make your own? There actual is no cream left in this when this is finished cooking. It absorbs into the pasta and all I could taste was the lemon and basil. I love
      using olive oil in a lot of recipes. So good and good for you!
