Is The Oil Hot Enough?
How many times do you heat up the oil in a frying pan and wonder if it’s hot enough? I know everyone has their own way of doing this but it usually involves dropping something into the oil. Use this simple tip to determine when the oil is ready without splattering the oil from dropping something into it. Click on my short video below to see how.
Believe it or not, my husband is the one that gave me this tip years ago!
I guess I’ll keep him around!

Nice
Thanks!
Really interesting ✌
Thanks jyo!
Great tip. I always just drop water in there and jump back
I did too until my husband got tired of me getting burnt…lol
A handy little tip Diane 🙂
Thanks Carol!
Great. They often say heat it until it is “shimmering” but I never seem to be able to see that and certainly not as easy as this.
I know a lot about cooking but when my husband told me about this I thought he was nuts…hahahahaha It works every time!
Wow, that is a pretty good tip. I also use the water technique, but will switch to this one and save some skin. Thank your husband for me Diane.
I sure will!
Cool trick! So simple and so smart 🙂 will definitely do this from now on
Thanks miakouppa!

You are very welcome Tammy!
So know we know what you sound like. I did not know this trick i just seem to know when oil is hot and dump the pork chops right in.Never fails.
Haha I do not like doing video’s. That’s because you are a seasoned cook. For the new cooks out there, this is a great way to learn.
Great idea! I’ll try it the next time. My method has always been to drop a few drops of water but I like your method better.
Less chance of splatter this way, thanks!
That is good to know
Thanks Kev and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Yes, I’d keep him around, if I were you, Diane. Great tip I’d never heard before. Also, I’m impressed with your video. I don’t have the slightest idea how to put a video on my blog. I do well to insert photos! LOL!
Thank you Janet but you have no idea how much I don’t like doing videos! Lol
This is the greatest tip, Diane! Thank you for sharing.
My hubby gets credit for this one! Thank you and enjoy your weekend Kellye!
Wow! Had no idea!
Me either until my husband told me. Lol
