Homemade Powdered Sugar
How many times do you have to run to the store because you don’t have any Powdered Sugar in the house? I can’t tell you how many times I needed just a cup of Powdered Sugar and I had to open an entire 2# bag! Then I didn’t use the rest of it for a long time and it lost it’s freshness. Not any more because it is so easy to make Powdered Sugar right at home. I started with 1 cup of granulated sugar and a tablespoon of cornstarch which turned into 1-1/2 cups of Homemade Powdered Sugar before sifting. When you buy Domino’s Powdered Sugar it is sifted, however, it is not necessary to sift and it is completely up to you.
Ingredients – Sugar & Cornstarch
Pour the sugar and cornstarch into a
blender. Blend until the granulated
sugar turns to powdered sugar.
Use immediately or store in an airtight
container. Sift if you would like.

Excellent! In a few “years” when I’ve used up this bag of powdered sugar, I’ll be doing this! LOL! Thanks! 🙂
See that’s why this is a good thing, you can just make as much as you need and it will be nice and fresh….lol
Wow, brilliant..it goes hard and lumpy here so ideal for me and I don’t use it often..Thank you for sharing 🙂 Merry Christmas x

Wow great to know! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome it is so easy to make!
I knew you could do this and I think I even tried it once many, many years ago. I don’t think I knew about adding the cornstarch though. Thanks for the tip.🙋
Do you sift yours?
That’s it? This is all you do? Awesome! Thanks so much!
Isn’t it crazy and we pay how much for it in the store…lol
That’s a nifty trick. Thanks for sharing!
You are very welcome!
Great recipe!
True, the rest of the package always ends up unused for a long time
But I think getting a good blender may be key too
Because the ones I have do not blend that finely
Thank you!!! I never gave that a thought. I never had any issues with blenders. Do you have a food processor? That may work too.
Awesome share, now I dont need to buy if I run out of it!
Right and I get so mad when I have to open a fresh bag when All I need to do is dust a cake or cookies.
Exactly right!!
Wow that’s pretty easy ! I don’t use it often but I always have sugar and cornstarch. Thanks!
You’re welcome!!
Wonderful and yes I had missed this. I use very little of this but when I need it you are do right it’s a pain to store a big bag. Thanks!
Thanks for the tip! This is news to me. With Christmas baking season soon upon us, timing is everything.
You’re welcome!
Thanks Diane. Also, many people don’t realized powdered sugar can go stale, so I freeze mine if I won’t be using it for quite a while.
Everything I have read states it lasts anywhere from two years to indefinitely as long as it is in a sealed container. I’m curious though, does yours get any moisture when you take it out of the freezer? Thank you June for the tip about freeing, I would never have thought about that.
No, it hasn’t had any moisture Diane.
Diane, I knew this at one time, but I’d completely forgotten it Thanks for the reminder!
Buying things at the store is so convenient we do forget, thank you Janet.
I can just see me with sugar from floor to ceiling in my kitchen! Good to know, though:)
Only if you leave the lid off the blender🤣
…and I would – LOL!
Sometimes all you need is a little powdered sugar . . . thanks for sharing a great tip!
You’re welcome it is so much cheaper than store bought.
I will keep this tip handy, Diane.
It’s a lot cheaper than buying it. Enjoy the rest of the weekend Carla!
When I do my Christmas baking, I use it a lot, so, no more running out the store because I ran out!
