Apple Pan Pie
For this recipe I decided to make Apple Pie in a 9″ x 13″ dish. I used pie crust for the bottom and a crumb topping on top. The results….a thick delicious pie with a golden crumb topping! It tastes amazing and makes enough for any size family or function.

Ingredients for the filling.
Apples will turn brown right after you peel and slice them, but that’s OK, it doesn’t hurt a thing. Do not put anything on them to prevent the browning or it will change the taste.
Ingredients for crumb topping.
Using two pie crusts, roll and form them to fit into a 9” x 13” oven safe dish bringing the pie dough up the sides halfway.
Combine the apples with ingredients for the filling, mix well and pour into the baking dish on top of the pie crust. Press down on the apples so there are no gaps.
Combine crumb topping ingredients and use a pastry blender or your hands to mix until small balls form. Pour crumb topping evenly over the apples.
Sprinkle crumb topping with 1-2 Tbsp. of sugar.
Bake at 375 degrees for about one hour until golden brown and bubbly.

This looks yummy and simple. I saved it! LOL I am not a baker but am always looking for simple yummy recipees that I can make =) Thank you for sharing.
Thank you it seriously was so easy (other than peeling the apples which I hate) and the best Apple Pie I have ever had! I stayed together when I took every piece out too.
Hi Diane. Apple pie is one of my favourite deserts so I will definitely try this receipe out using gluten free flour of course!
Awesome! It turned out so good! I used apples from one of our trees. Enjoy I know we did!
I did this 13 x 9 pan for pumpkin and pecan pie last year. I’ll have to try the apple now! It really is great for a crowd!
OMG I would love the pumpkin! I always make the pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving when my son cooks and I always make two. Thank you for a great idea!!
It turned out really well!
Thank you only 4 pieces left…lol
Nice recipe
Thank you!
I agree 🙂
Thank you!
Sounds yummy, I’ll definitely try this
Thanks and enjoy we did!
Great let me know how you like it!
That looks so good. Can I ask, if you had a choice of apples to use, what would be your top three? I never know what kind to buy.
I don’t buy apples since we have three trees. I haven’t bought appes for about 25 years. However if I had to buy them I would buy a tart apple, not one like delicious apples. A lot of people like to use a combination of apples. I personally just use one tart kind. Sorry I couldn’t be more help in this area.
Thanks anyway! Lucky you!
Sounds Delicious…that Crumbled texture..Loved it.Everyone’s favorite…
Thanks PS! Definitely better than another pie crust on top!
Wow, very nice.
Thanks!
You know that Poland – where I come from – is famous for its apples? I love everything with apples by default haha! Great recipe, I must try it out 🙂 have a great day!

My son’s wife and her family came from Poland. I have tasted their homemade food and it is amazing! I hope you love this as much as we did! You have a great day as well Daria!
Looks so tempting !!
And it’s all gone…lol
Looks delicious
Thank you it really was amazing! I may have to start making all my pies this way!
Oooooh perfect find with Thanksgiving rite around the corner, and so easy wow!!!!
I want to give this a go! I wonder how it will turn out if I used a convection oven… 🙂 I will try it this week. 🙂
It should work great as long a you know how long to cook it. Unfortunately I don’t have an convection oven ☹️ so I don’t know. Keep in mind this is like any apple pie but it is a little thicker so it may take a few minutes longer. This is the best Apple Pie (in a pan) I have ever made!
I love a good rustic pie! I will watch it closely, thank you! 🙂
Awesome idea! I hate having to bake two pies (or more) for a crowd. What kind of apples do you prefer for baking? Grannies?
I used apples from our trees. They were here when we moved in 26 years ago so I’m not sure what kind they are. They were very tart. I always ask at the farm market what kind to buy now that we cut them down. There are so many new varities!
Thank you for this great recipe, Diane. Apple pie is my absolute favorite, and I also love crunchy tops, so this sounds amazing!
You a so welcome! I will never make a regular apple pie again after making this one!
I might feel the same way once I try it!

I don’t think I will ever make a regular apple pie again after how great this turned out. Thank you and I hope you give it a try. 💕
Will try
Let me know how you like it. Have a great weekend!
This looks so easy and great for fall weather. I might add some vanilla ice cream with this. I’m not a great baker, but this looks like something even I can do. Thanks!
This is so simple and if you buy the store bought pie crusts it’s even easier. Mine came with 2 pie crusts 🙃in the box so that was perfect. Roll them slightly just to fit the bottom and pinch together. The rest is SO easy. This has a wonderful taste and I bet you won’t say you’re not a great baker anymore! Thank you Christy and enjoy! ❤️
I will definitely do this. Thanks !
I’ll be making this one!
You won’t be sorry! I will never make an apple pie the traditional way again. ❤️
