For this recipe I decided to make Apple Pie in a 9″ x 13″ dish. I used pie crust for the bottom and a crumb topping on top. The results….a thick delicious pie with a golden crumb topping! It tastes amazing and makes enough for any size family or function.

Ingredients for the filling.

Apples will turn brown right after you peel and slice them, but that’s OK, it doesn’t hurt a thing. Do not put anything on them to prevent the browning or it will change the taste.

Using two pie crusts, roll and form them to fit into a 9” x 13” oven safe dish bringing the pie dough up the sides halfway.

Combine the apples with ingredients for the filling, mix well and pour into the baking dish on top of the pie crust. Press down on the apples so there are no gaps.

    • Thank you it seriously was so easy (other than peeling the apples which I hate) and the best Apple Pie I have ever had! I stayed together when I took every piece out too.

    • I don’t buy apples since we have three trees. I haven’t bought appes for about 25 years. However if I had to buy them I would buy a tart apple, not one like delicious apples. A lot of people like to use a combination of apples. I personally just use one tart kind. Sorry I couldn’t be more help in this area.

    • My son’s wife and her family came from Poland. I have tasted their homemade food and it is amazing! I hope you love this as much as we did! You have a great day as well Daria!

    • It should work great as long a you know how long to cook it. Unfortunately I don’t have an convection oven ☹️ so I don’t know. Keep in mind this is like any apple pie but it is a little thicker so it may take a few minutes longer. This is the best Apple Pie (in a pan) I have ever made!

  1. Awesome idea! I hate having to bake two pies (or more) for a crowd. What kind of apples do you prefer for baking? Grannies?

    • I used apples from our trees. They were here when we moved in 26 years ago so I’m not sure what kind they are. They were very tart. I always ask at the farm market what kind to buy now that we cut them down. There are so many new varities!

  2. This looks so easy and great for fall weather. I might add some vanilla ice cream with this. I’m not a great baker, but this looks like something even I can do. Thanks!

    • This is so simple and if you buy the store bought pie crusts it’s even easier. Mine came with 2 pie crusts 🙃in the box so that was perfect. Roll them slightly just to fit the bottom and pinch together. The rest is SO easy. This has a wonderful taste and I bet you won’t say you’re not a great baker anymore! Thank you Christy and enjoy! ❤️
