Savory Rice
Back in th 1970’s I went to work for the Gas Company. I was a teller at the time and once a month the company printed off a free recipe card that we passed out to our customers. This Savory Rice recipe was one of those recipes that I adapted to my own taste. It is absolutely fantastic and easy to make even for beginner cook!
Ingredients
Melt the butter in a medium
pan over medium heat.
Add chopped onions, garlic and rice.
Mix and cook over medium heat until
lightly brown, stirring constantly.
Add chicken broth and seasonings.
Bring to a boil stirring occasionally.
Pour rice into a 2 quart
casserole dish with a lid.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven
for 50-55 minutes until the liquid
is absorbed but not dry. I baked
this 50 minutes. Stir before serving.

Thanks nice easy dish too!

Very much so! Thanks!
🙂 the butter actually looks better to me than the rice – (and the pics help so much)
Hahaha I only use real butter when I cook so much flavor!
yeah – us too – real butter. and last month my mom and I made some meals for a lady who just had a baby – and we packed in the butter in the items. It was our gift to her milk -making – lol
we made two pasta meat dishes and buttered the sauces – and I made a homemade granola with butter (and cocoa, nuts and a little honey and stevia) – but that butter made it extra good….
Oh yum that all sounds delicious! That was very nice of you both!
well it was fun to do together – and I am not sure when we will gift another meal gift – but when I do – I am going to skim some of your back posts for ideas….
Awe thanks Prior! Have a great week!
you too – and happy cooking/posting

You are so welcome Janet! It is easy and delicious!
Mum used to make something like this for Saturday lunch. She’d add chopped bacon, peas and corn and it would be a complete meal. Brings back memories.
Now that sounds like a delicious meal! Thanks for the inspiration Chris!
I’m always on the lookout for new flavors to add to rice. I appreciate your ideas.

Oh wow – I never tried baking rice before (except for rice pudding). This looks really delicious, and would go nicely so with many main dishes. Thanks!
