Corned Beef

Corned Beef is a salt or brine cured cut of beef. The name corned stands for the treatment of the meat with large-grained rock salt, also called “corns” of salt according to Wikipedia.

How do you like to eat your Corned Beef? There are many ways to fix it and they are all my favorites……Reuben Sandwiches, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Corned Beef Hash, plain Corned Beef and I’m sure there are more.

It is very easy to fix, however, it does need to cook for a long time due to the meat being very tough. You can cook it in a slow cooker, bake it in the oven, cook it on the stove top burner or fix it by simmering it in a large pot of water on the stove which is what I did with this one.

Place the Corned Beef in a large pot. Sprinkle the spices that come with the Corned Beef on top and fill the pot with water until it covers the Corned Beef by about 2″. Simmer with a lid for 2-1/2 hours.

I will be eating this corned beef plain so I shredded it.

Reuben Sandwiches are my favorite sandwich. My recipe for this is in the category drop down box at the right under Sandwiches.

Corned Beef and Cabbage made in the slow cooker is another great recipe. This recipe is in the category drop down box at the right under Roast Beef.

I do not have a picture of Corned Beef Hash or a recipe as I have not yet made it.

What else have you made using Corned Beef other than what I have mentioned? I am sure there are other meals made with Corned Beef, but I do not know of any. Please leave a comment if you have made anything with Corned Beef other than what I have mentioned.
